So, for the hell of it, I recorded a few of my mellow songs with a head-set mic and Audacity
and posted them to my "band" page on myspace. If anyone is interested, you can hear
them here: http://www.myspace.com/wintersofdiscontent
The lyrics are posted too, if you click on the lyrics thing on the music player.
Feedback always welcome

Like the band name. You a Steinbeck fan?
Good songs, despite crappy sound quality.

Haven't read much Steinbeck; it wasn't inspired by that novel, though (now that I realize he has a title similar to that).
It's mostly a play on my last name, a bit of life philosophy I have, and the opening line from a Shakespeare quote (ironically from
"Richard the Third):
Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this son of York;
And all the clouds that low'r'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried. |

I'm pretty sure that's where Steinbeck got his title from.
Just out of curiosity, what's the philosophy?

The short answer: Being discontent in life leads one to make positive changes.
