Welcome to the Official GameTZ MVP forum.
We are having "every man for himself" tournaments on Wednesday nights 10:00 pm EST (7:00 PST). I am willing to organize, but I don't know that I'll be able to make each tourney, so volunteers to host would be appreciated.
We'll accumulate points, kills, cash or whatever's appropriate for each game. We'll play for an hour and see who the top person is. We'll play a variety of game types (slayer/deathmatch, team deathmatch, hardcore, SWAT, etc.) All that I ask is please don't kill your teammates in hardcore, lets be sportsmen
There's no entry fee, but there will now be a prize! 2 weeks GameTZ subscription time to the winner, donated from the website (so we're now an officially sponsored event!). Only stipulation is that we have to have a decent turnout in order for a prize to be awarded (goal of at least 10 participants), and all participants must be GameTZ members (not necessarily subscribers, but have a GameTZ login).
Make sure that whoever is hosting that week is on your friends list (or on mine), that way you could join their party. Please try to show up 10 minutes before the game time. If anyone can think of a more effecient way, let me know. Please add me to your friends list if not already there (or if you're on the Machete/Rayzor's AA1 GameTZ list, I'm there also). If you are hosting, please be sure to document (preferably by taking pictures of end of round screens) the scores so that we have backup to determine the winner.
I've created a Silver membership account for the GameTZ MVP matches. Please add to your friends list if you're interested in playing. The GamerTag is: GameTZ MVP
Since this is now an official event, we will have to choose one game each week. Rhythm games will have to be taken off as they are too difficult to track, and everyone won't be playing at the same time (against everyone else). So, we'll have to limit to shooters and racers, or whatever other game types you see fit (please let me know).
The prelim schedule for September for Wednesday nights and the games will be as follows:
9/3 Call of Duty 4
9/10 Gears of War
9/17 Burnout Paradise
9/24 ??Open?? R6V2, Halo 3, or Uno (please vote if you haven't already) |
These are the top games played on Xbox live, so most should have them. We'd like to keep this between GameTZers. If there's a small turnout, I guess we could invite friends in, but that'll be up to you guys.
Please let me know if you're interested in playing.
Only reason I'm setting up a separate forum for the Play Date & MVP is because I may utilize some sort of voting system.
Thanks,
Rob

Grand Theft Auto IV MVP tonight @ 10pm EST. Is someone available to host? I only played online once, so not that familiar. Only thing I know is we would need to rank winner based on total cash earned for the hour. Probably have to take a picture/screen shot at the end of each round. | Smaug317

Nobody was playing forza 2 on the racing night.
That is the question. | robanddiana
| | #4 posted June 25, 2008 at 2:21pm (EDT) |
Nobody was playing Burnout either
I'm picking the most popular games, I guess not that many people are interested??? When I first proposed, a lot of people seemed interested, and the 1st COD4 MVP match had a few guys, but since then, nothing . . . | Smaug317

I was busy for the Halo 3 night, and I wanted to play Forza 2 but nobody was playing. I don't have all that many 360 games myself, so... I won't be playing in one for a few weeks.
That is the question. | refloc

this will continue right? like repeating the games in coming weeks? | robanddiana

Yes, definitely want this to become an ongoing weekly thing. I need everyone's help though to suggest games, nights, and times. So spread the word and let's get a tradition going.
Also need volunteers to host, as I don't have all games, and I'm not always available. | robanddiana

Great time last nite playing GTA IV. Unfortunately, Robdukes was the only person who showed up besides me (thanks), so I guess he can be MVP for this week
That was only the 2nd time I played that game online, and the game definitely redeemed itself, as I thought the campaign was a little on the boring side (just started that though also)
PLEASE let me know what games you'd like to play in July (if not the same games). Also, if these days and times aren't good for you, please let me know suggestions. We can always have more than one night of the week.
So far, it seems that we could probably have a COD4 tourney every week as that still seems to be the most played game among GameTZers! A month ago, I couldn't get anyone away from GTA IV, now everyone's back to COD4??? | Smaug317

Seems like you guys want to play the same games as last month, which is fine. I've posted the schedule above in the original post.
Tomorrow, July 2nd: Call of Duty 4 @ 10pm EST
I added a "Rhythm Game" night on 7/23, by popular demand, then 7/30, I'll leave open to suggestion. | robanddiana

I haven't calculated the MVP yet, but below is a cr@ppy video of the 7/2/08 COD4 match.
Going forward, I'll have to video capture directly or something cause this video looks pretty bad.
Enjoy from the point of view of one of the worst players
I'll post the winner tomorrow.

From YouTube: Rejected (length of video is too long)
I even didn't add audio so it wouldn't be that big, and set it to 640x480 MP4, but it ended up being 167 MB, which is obviously too big.
Fun game, even though we got taken advantage of by the "TLC" GameTZ team

I was running late last night for Halo. Sorry if you were waiting. KittyKiller still showed up and we played together. He was way better than me, so I guess that makes him MVP?
He introduced me to a fun variant called "Bull Dome", it was both fun and funny, watching people get throw across the map.
Next week is Rainbow Six Vegas. If someone wants to host #1, let me know. I can try to host #2, although I've yet to play it online (just got it in the mail). | Smaug317

I was waiting for you... I don't know kittykiller either. I did however, tear up in some random matchups.

Rob i remember reading you were doing CoD every week, if you are what days would they be? that is probably the only game i would be able to do since i dont have RSV or GTA, and i lag terribly in Halo | robanddiana

I was only joking about that because of the low turnout of games other than COD4. But, we will have to evaluate the games chosen as this is now an "Official" GameTZ event.
There's no entry fee, but there will now be a prize! 2 weeks GameTZ subscription time to the winner, donated from the website (so we're now an officially sponsored event!). Thanks to those who voted. Looks like we'll be playing Gears of War this Wednesday, July 23rd @ 10pm EST
If we get more than 8 players, we'll need to have 2 matches and break up the players (for example 6 and 4 if we have 10, 6 and 6 if we have 12, etc.). Please let me know if you'd be interested in hosting the match (or one of the matches if there's more than one).
I'm not familiar with multiplayer on this game, and have never hosted, but I figured we'd play:
- Execution mode (so there's reviving, not 1 kill and done, like in Warzone). You still get points for shooting/meleeing someone until they need to be revived, right?
- 3 rounds, 5 minutes each, then switch teams around, play another 3 rounds, etc. Play until 11pm. Is there a way to auto-assign teams, or do the players have to choose teams?
- Friendly Fire off
- Reserve 7 private slots
- Maps can be chosen by host or random if available
If you have any suggestions/comments, please let me know. Like I said I'm a newb on multiplayer.
For those who haven't voted yet, please do so, so you can help pick the games we play. Also, if you haven't voted for Gears and would like to play Wednesday, please vote for that game. This way, I'll know who to invite on game nights.
Thanks,
Rob

No, we already played COD4 this month. I need to fill this Wednesday and next Wednesday with games other than: COD4 or R6V2. We'll play COD4 again in August. | UhsLax24

I actually gave you props in another thread when I first mentioned an "MVP" night to GameTZers. The tourneys that were run on this site lasted for months, so I proposed having a one night "MVP" night each week a la Goozex. At first, it was just for fun, but now the site donates 2 weeks subscription time if we have enough players.
Do you know of any other Goozexers that are on GameTZ? I'll be sure to invite you, and any others.
Welcome to GameTZ!

Gears was a bust. 6 voted, but only 3 showed up to play. Crooked totally owned us, so I guess that makes him Gears of War MVP. And he'll probably keep that crown as I doubt we'll play it again.
Please cast your votes so that we can add some variety to the MVP matches. I'm just trying to get us to play something other than COD4. Don't get me wrong, it's probably the best multiplayer game out there, but I like variety in my life.
Thanks to all who voted, and thanks to Crooked and BloodnBalls for showing up. | robanddiana

Just so you know, I threw in a few Xbox original titles in case anyone's interested in playing those for our MVP matches. They're all compatible with the 360:
-Halo 2
-Star Wars Battlefront II
-Conker Live & Reloaded
Please cast your vote if you're interested. | | |
