So my iMac came in the mail and everythings just peachy except for my laserprinter not being compatible. I have a HP Laserjet 1018. It "sees" it of course, but has no official drivers for it. I tried downloading and installing the foo2zjs scripts (for manually uploading firmware to the printer) I found online but they don't always work. I'd like to find a printer with Mac OS X driver & leopard support.
I would like to stick with HP if possible and it needs to be a monochrome laser printer. Out here, HP ink for almost any model personal lj goes for $50-$60. I keep reading that HP support for Mac stinks and people seem to be going with Brother's.
What do you guys use for Mac printers?

I cheat and send a PDF of the document to my Win98 machine and print it there. But the only thing I print is character sheets for RPGs....

So why do I wander around the house for ten minutes searching for a calculator, instead of firing up Gnumeric and be done in two? |

there was a software product called MacJet that provided drivers for HP Laserjets for use with macs, still may be out there as shareware, not sure if there is an OSX variant. I'm surprised GimpPrint driver doesn't work for you, or one of the many OSX drivers included in the OS.
I use HP allinone inkjets with OSX 10.3-10.5. |

I use a Konica Minolta MagiColor 2430DL. If you want a decent color laser printer at a reasonable price, the MagiColor line is the way to go.

As for HPs, any of the recent HPs should work with 10.5.

I use an HP LaserJet 1200 without issue. It has worked fine since at least 10.3. |
