In this post we can post what we have that we would be willing to offer to swap/float. You can post what you have and on this master post the title, its owner, and the queue order could be listed. I'm thinking that if at any time an item reaches the end of its queue then at that time it could be returned to its owner until its requested again. I'm open to all suggestions as to how we can make this the best for all of us who want to take part. Also periodically I will probably clean this thread up a little to keep it uncluttered.

Report in here when you ship and receive something so the queue can stay accurate * smile *

Monkbonk has been the first to post some items, once we get enough we can start this thing up!

I'll look ino adding a few titles over the weekend. I am just pretty protective over my anime so alot of my titles wouldnt be available.

My main concern is if I loan out anime A and 3 people watch it and then the third person sends to the 4th person on list and its lost/stolen/damaged who is responsible? Also if the discs get scratched, etc its hard to track who is at fault. I definitely want this to work but I need to think on a few of these issues first.

yes brian9824 these are valid issues, I want this to work too, as i think we can all enjoy something like this.

so far everyone who has signed up are reputable traders, and I have thought about making it silver star minimum to cut down any negative issues. but yes it would be hard to hold someone responsible for some things. the offer system will help track who sent what and where, as we can have package tracking to that end, damaged items however would be another issue.

Like I've been saying, anyone who has any ideas or wants to put in some input please do, I'm confident we can make this into something enjoyable for us all.

I encourage anyone willing to put a link here to the forum in their sig on their bio page to keep getting the word out about our little project * smile *

I told a co-worker about what we were doing and he seemed interested. He said he was going to sign up for the site.

I need to try spending more time in chat to promote this thing. i know people wont want to take their chances with their stuff, but if someone doesnt want to put up their prized stuff or really expensive no one will blame them for that. we can also enforce a star level requirement or certain repuation level to participate to ensure some additional level of trust.

any ideas anyone has to promote this are welcome.

It definitely needs to be no lower than a silver star to stay safe. Another thing is that we need to have every person in line state the condition they receive the disk in, so that we have no problem with disk's getting messed/scratched up. Not to not trust anybody but to make sure no one gets blamed for stuff they didn't do. Also just as when they recieve we need to state the condition the disk's are in when they are sent, so again the first person won't be to blame.

That's all the idea's I can think of right now. Take them or leave them it don't matter to me, but just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

Thank You,

Because that's against the site trading rules.... as well as no R0 stuff... unless it's from a legitimate R1 company like Right Stuf, Manga, etc.

I think what he was referring to Amethyst is what we were going to do, and that is send our dvd's the original copy of the dvd in a generic case so that the cases don't get scratched up. That's what I believe and that's why I gave the answer I did. I may be mistaken and if so I apologize for the incorrect info and or answer I gave.

I suppose it could be read as that, in which case I read it wrong... however, it is a shame that copies or R0 stuff couldn't be utilized in this instance since it would save the original disk wear and tear..

Generic cases and cd cases are a good idea as well... :)

I read the other page and saw you were talking about a credit system. You could do the system like SwapaDvd and give a credit per disc.

Ex.
Cowboy Bebop Vol. 1 (1 Disk) = 1 Credit
Boogie Pop Phantom (5 Disk) = 5 Credit

Just trying to help with Idea's like I said before drop

ya, my only thing with a credit system is that it penalizes those with smaller collections and fewer things to offer. but on the other side its not right to offer 1 item and get 10... will have to ponder on this a little.

No, you read it right the first time. I figured that since nothing was being traded or sold, that sending copies would be OK. It would definitely prevent loss and damage. It would also save on needlessly shipping back to the owner if the demand isn't very high for a particular disc.

I don't know, although someone really should ask Bill about it... depending on the answer I may be included in this enterprise if I don't have to risk my originals, (although that has its own set of costs involved with no return) and I don't have to pay for shipping out... (which you guys really ought to rethink that position, those with the anime shouldn't have to pay to ship it cause it's going to add up really quickly, especially to those with more than a couple of titles available... I would consider the shipping as the price for borrowing or renting the anime...and then if you use Pay Pal, then there's PP fees to send money... ugh... I'm sorry, but Netflix really looks better and better all the time! )

Well its copyright infringement because you're making an illegal copy of a copyrighted product and distributing it. So I doubt Bill will allow that on this site.

And I could see why you would turn to NetFlix but do they really have the selection of anime that we're trying to get here? If they do then crap, I'll sign up for NetFlix right now.

But really I think the person who's requesting the items should pay for shipping.

If people are worried about their disks getting scratched up we might have to make two lists. One list for new people joining to request from and the other for people who have met the requirements and are trusted enough to take care of DVD's properly.

Yeah, I can see your point on that one... oh as for Netflix, they say they have 1,600 Anime and Animation selections... here's the link:

http://www.netflix.com/BrowseSelection?sgid=623

And for 4.99 a month, that's a darn good deal... we just have so much stuff already to watch, I just can't see spending that for stuff we probably won't watch... lol..

Oh ok. I see where it says "We have over 1,500 Anime and Animation DVD's." But it still seems weird to me because does that mean they have 1,500 including all the duplicates they have? And they don't show you their whole entire selection either so they could have a bunch of Animation movies like they show on small preview list such as "Flush Away" and "Eight Crazy Nights". But if someone is willing to try out the Trial they have and see what they have to offer then it might be cool to try.

But I doubt they have the full set of different animes you would want to watch. This is kind of why I think this float thing is a good idea. Because movie rental places don't carry anime in large amounts.

You could use some of these Rent Anime sites but its about $10 a month for 1 DVD at a time.

Well if I'm not mistaken, I know a friend of mine rented all of the Urusei Yatsura (Lum)(Those Obnoxious Aliens) 50 disks from Netflix. along with the 6 OVA's... although I'm pretty sure Netflix only has like 1 copy of a lot of the anime so you may be on a wait list for some time for it... still... $5 a month to rent as many dvd's as you want isn't a bad deal in the least.. you don't have to drive to a store to pick them up or drop them off... Nor do you have to pay to ship them back or to get them...

I think Blockbuster will even let you drop off at the store and pick up at the store with their online rentals... and I think they are pretty close in price to Netflix...

Or the cable company has an exclusive anime channel (Anime Network) in most places now... even our Comcast has it now, but it's like $7 a month, and since I have a pretty extensive anime collection, it isn't worth it for me to get the channel... lol.. I just need to watch what I got....Besides, I'm not sure if they show them subbed or dubbed or probably both... Plus Sci Fi channel has Ani Mondays, and then there's always Cartoon Network that shows anime as well...

But I know that others on the site have game rental forums, and it would be kinda neat for an anime rental forum... so good luck with it!

I might actually try NetFlix for 2 or 3 months to see what anime's I can watch from them. But if I do 3 DVD's at a time and assuming it takes 3 Days to get a request and 3 days for them to get it back thats about 15 Disks a Month at average more than likely. So $10 to watch 1 or two series is not that bad really. Well depending on which anime they send to you haha.

I still think this anime swap thing is a good idea especially for those who want to watch certain anime's that they can't get access to on rental sites or stores.
