I have read a lot of them and could recommend some.
The Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn is a MUST... Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Stand... amazing reads. Introduces Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade, two of the best characters of the expanded universe.
Tatooine Ghost by Troy Denning is very good. It takes place just after Han and Leia are wed while Leia is still coming to terms about who her father is and what it could mean if she has kids.
Tales of the Bounty Hunters, Tales from Jabba's Palace, and Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina - Three books of short stories by various writers. They are all very good and worth a read. I enjoyed them thoroughly
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Based on the game with the same name, it is even better than the game is because you actually get more into the minds of Starkiller and his pilot, Juno Eclipse. Very interesting twist on Star Wars canon.
Darth Bane: Path of Destruction - Great read to see how the Sith as we know it from the movies really got its start. I would recommend playing Knights of the Old Republic before reading this.
The New Jedi Order - The series in which the Star Wars universe was forever changed. A long series, but there are a lot of good books here. Some sad moments too. This series leads into the next two series...
The Dark Nest Trilogy - Some people didn't enjoy this trio of books by Troy Denning, but I loved them. I would recommend reading these.
The Legacy of the Force - A nine book series written by three authors (Aaron Allston, Karen Traviss, and Troy Denning). A great series about how the sins of our fathers can come back to haunt us. I actually need to finish this series myself, but what I have read of it is great. If you like Allston or Traviss from this series, you may want to check their other works in the Star Wars universe
There are so many more that I could go on about, but I think that is a good start for now. |
