Hey guys
I thought I would post the format that I have come up with for the NASCAR Fantasy League....I know it seems early, but I actually had most of this format worked out before this season started, on another trading site, but never "took off" with it there.
So hopefully we can make use of it here on GTZ.
But as the title suggest, I would like your thoughts about this, good or bad, and of course anything about it that you think could be added or tweaked.
OK...here are the details....
NASCAR Fantasy League
There will be a $5 entry fee required to enter the League. PayPal funds are preferred, but if you DO NOT have Paypal, then we will have someone designated that you can send cash, Money Orders, or checks too, and they will pay on your behalf.
Each persons team will consist of 4 main drivers and 2 back-up drivers.
Each week points will be awarded according to this chart: 10 pts if any of your drivers win.....6 pts for each driver that places in top 5.....4 pts for each driver that places in top 10.....2 pts for each driver that places in top 20.
BONUS points: 2 pts if any of your main drivers lead a lap (for each, if more than one) and 2 pts if any of your main drivers leads the most laps.
ONLY your main drivers are eligible for points.
The Back-Up drivers CAN ONLY be used for the following reasons:
1.) One of your main drivers gets injured and cannot make the race (unable to qualify or a suspension DOES NOT count)
2.) The Back-Up driver may be better suited for that week-ends race track....For Example: He may be a better road course driver than an oval course driver, so you want to put him in the main driver pool when the Sonoma race comes up.
3.) One of your main drivers has failed to place in the top 20 within the last 5 races.
NOTE on Back-Up drivers: Can only use one of your Back-Up drivers, NOT both. Also, you need to notify me that Friday before the week-ends race if you decide to use a back-up driver.
Points will be added up at the end of the season, and whomever has the most points wins the GTZ Nascar Championship.
Each person is more than welcome to choose some kind of name for your team....for example, I am thinking of calling mine Bobby Lynn Racing. Just let me know what it is, so that I can keep a record of it.
I know this maybe obvious, but I will mention it anyways.
Teams can have the same drivers, BUT the entire roster of six cannot be the same.
This first year (2009), picks will be done by "first come, first serve", in other words, whoever posts first gets that team, and if someone picks the exact same drivers later, than that person must choose another driver.
After the 2009 season, the picks will be done according to the points from the last year....Champion picks first, and than so on according to points earned that year.
NOTE: Must have seasons picks done and posted in this forum 2 weeks before the Daytona 500 is scheduled to start. Also, Please have your $5 entry fee paid by this time as well.
The GTZ NASCAR Championship team will get the following at the end of the season: a sizable amount of PayPal funds ($5 entry fees from each team....I am sure we are all smart enough to do the math).
8 weeks Sub-Time graciously donated by bill and GTZ (be sure to Thank him when you get a chance)
OK....let me know what you think
Thanks

sprint cup is good with me also paypal or sub time would probably be the easiest to collect (games would all have to be sent to one person to enter then to the winner would cost in shipping) if we used pay pal or subtime if paying with credit card you pay the extra to cover fees if paying with credit otherwise we all use non credit pay pal (if you have a personal account you dont pay fees when recieving non credit or balance pay pal) depending on number of people I would say like 2-10 bucks per person or for sub time a couple months per person.
Either way I would suggest one person collect the "entry fee" then only one person has to send the prize to winner and he or she gets the prize all at once. Also check with bill or one of the mods to make sure playing for money games or sub is ok...I think I have seen it done before but not positive so better safe then sorry

First of all, Thanks for your input Kianta
Yeah, I don't have a PayPal account (believe it or not..LOL), so I would only be able to contribute sub-time.
And yes, I understand what you are saying about the games....I realized that later today.
If you guys trusted me, I would be willing to collect the games, and send them to the winner at the end of the season.....but we could also just go with Sub-Time if thats what you guys prefer.
We got plenty of time...so we can just talk this over and decide what is the better choice.
And yes, I will make a post in Site Feedback and make sure it is OK with bill.

well as far as pay pal if we did that people could always mail money to someone who has personal pay pal account and said personal can contribute on behalf of that person (who paid them with cash / money order or check)...Of course who ever collects the money could also receive money and send pay pal on behalf....
I have nothing against sub time just saying pay pal is easy also (shipping check or money order is cheaper then a game) also if 1 person collected all the games (say you) that person would be stuck footing the bill to ship 5-10 games (depending on # of people) so like I said games could get exspensive....also there is the problem with not everyone has a 360 or ps3 or ps2 or whatever system we decide to contribute so that would posibly keep people from participating.

Yeah, I see what you are saying about the games....how it could get expensive for one person...so that might not be the best idea So PayPal or Sub-time, or combination of them would probably be the best prize package.
Like you said in that first post, set this up as an entry fee....I like that idea....that way that person has given something to the league in order to be a part of it. When I talk to bill about this, I wonder if he would be willing to put up a good sized Sub-time amount as a contribution from the site....that would be nice
That way we could just do the PayPal option, and he could cover the Sub-time.
So I assume, since your comments have been about the prize package, that you have no problems with the actual format of the Fantasy League....no questions about that? | Kianta

yup like I said Im not to familar with fantasy stuff but sounds fine to me...
although when we start it there should be like a week to pick your team (obiviously at least a week or two before the 1st race this should be done).....who ever post first gets the team they post (incase two people happen to pick same team) in which case the late poster would just have to change one driver (more if they want)

mackey is kinda busy right now since his town is flooding, but once he does have time and he is serious about a nascar fantasy league you should get his input. He does alot of that kind of stuff online so he'll probably have some good ideas for a proper format. just my 2 cents.

Oh, and thats not to say your format isnt "proper,"(looks fine to me). I just suggested it because you said you're not familiar with it.

But yeah, Jeffro, I am hoping Mackey gets involved in this...I think he will with the Fantasy League, but as far as just talking NASCAR in here, I don't know if he wants to do that.
He showed up in the post I put in the General forum, and said there he does not have much to chat about concerning NASCAR, but is a BIG fan and will join us in the Fantasy League. | soundtech

OK....you guys might want to look at the original post again....I have made some changes to it, took Kianta's advice on a few things and incorporated those suggestions.
And it looks like we will probably have a prize package that consists mainly of PayPal funds, with a possibility of some Sub-time donated by bill (this part is yet to be approved, and probably will not be worked out until closer to Feb.)
But I am going to try to get at least 2 months out of him.
I think I will use Kianta's idea and have each team put up a $5 PayPal entry fee, which will go towards the prize package (if you DO NOT have PayPal, then you can send cash, MO, or check to someone who does and they will pay on your behalf).
The person responsible for that will be determined later.
New standings and news coming tomorrow....also, look at the news stories forum, cuz RULost has added an interesting story concerning Mark Martin. | soundtech

GOOD NEWS !!!!!!
I got bored, so went ahead and made the post in Site Feedback asking bill if giving PayPal away was OK and so forth.
The PayPal prize is OK with him....and even better news....He agreed to include 8 weeks sub-time as part of the prize package....yipeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So now the prize package will be PayPal funds ($5 entry fees), and 8 weeks sub-time donated from the site.
Now that's a nice prize...if I say so myself
EDIT: Might be nice to drop into that post and Thank bill for this donation. | soundtech

This suggestion was given to me by RULost in chat the other night, so Thank him | Kianta
