Yep, and I get to play with all that equipment....yipeee
The board itself, is a Yamaha, and it has built in effects (mainly reverb for vocals), so I just have to dial it in, and assign it to one of two effects aux's....that's my favorite part of it.
And he got me brand new Sennheiser headphones (seen in first pic), which are really nice.
The next step we are gonna take, is too work on getting a larger light set-up, maybe even a complete steel light rigging system that would be above them, and eventually be controlled by a light board, which I would probably control as well.
I will be going with him (Tut Campbell, leader of the band, the one in the white long sleeve shirt), on Oct. 27 to look at lighting stuff, which will probably be another ALL day outing.

No, it was a fancy ass retirement place. I think they told us it costs $3,000 a month to live there.
In fact, because of it being a place for the elderly, having to watch the volume was my biggest problem.
I was playing with the main fader constantly, it is much better when I can give them some volume.
But sometimes you gotta do what the establishment asks, after all they are paying you.

I think at the height of it all, there was probably about 30 to 40, and some were employees and their families.
and yes, believe it or not, some of those old timers seemed to be enjoying it.
There was a bar, and drinks were being served, so some of them could have been feeling mighty fine...LOL

It's not as hard as it looks Kianta, but yeah, believe me, some boards can be somewhat intimidating.
Especially the larger ones, this one is 24 channels, but I have been on others that were 40 channels, and those things are HUGE

Well Kianta, I'm not really a musician, I've tried guitar, and know allot about instruments, but there is no way in Hell I could play like those guys.
I mainly try to enhance my knowledge of instruments so that I can better do my job as a sound man, because the more I know about how the instruments work, the lingo, and other things concerning guitars, drums, ect., than the better I can help improve the over-all sound.
I may go back to an instrument eventually, but right now I am just concentrating on improving my sound tech knowledge.

I've got a Hell-of-a thing to get ready for next summer.
Tut and I are going to be putting on our own ALL day Blues show....and basically I will be taking care of most of it.
This is damn exciting, cuz this was one of my goals, to start producing and putting together my own concerts
and it looks like come next summer, I will be doing exactly that, and making a nice chunk of change as well
I've already got several of the details worked out, but much still needs to be done, but will have plenty of time to work on it.
We will probably be putting it on during the first week-end of June.
Here is what I already got worked out ( I may use this post as a continual working spot for this project )
KingTut Blues Revival
--------------------------------
Tentative Day: First Saturday of June (June 6th), that's the week-end following Eureka's regular Blues Festival
Taking place at Eureka Music Park (on Hwy 23S, towards Turpentine)
I will be acting as co-producer, mc-ing, taking care of vendors, and managing everything else
5 bands, one must be KingTut (they will headline), leaves 4 slots open
$10 advance tickets, $15 at the gate
$500 initial rent payment to Don for using the park, and possibly 10% of ticket sales, depending on how much we make.
How people will be paid
------------------------------------
10% of ticket sales to first 4 bands (total 40%), and 15% to KingTut, 10% possibly to Don (see above)
35% left for me and Tut for being producers of this show, split evenly equals 17.5% for each of us.
We will need a few extra people: soundman, security, and stage crew/roadies....they will be paid out of my cut.
soundman (probably Johnny): $100
security (4 man team, $25 each): $100
stage hands/also will help Johnny (4 man team, $25 each): $100
ticket selling girl at gate: $25
$325 total out of my cut for extra people
Vendor details
-----------------------
$40 rental for space, and they keep ALL of their profits
This may ALL goto me, have to pass that by Tut and see what he thinks
Tentative schedule for event
------------------------------------------
First 4 bands play for an hour, KingTut will play one hour, have 15 minute break, than another 45 minutes
Gate opens at 2 p.m.
3 p.m. to 4 p.m..................1st. band
1/2 hour break
4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.........2nd. band
1/2 hour break
6 p.m. to 7 p.m..................3rd. band
1/2 hour break
7:30 to 8:30 p.m................4th. band
1/2 hour break
9 p.m. to 10 p.m................KingTut
15 minute break
10:15 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Need Johnny, myself, and stage hands there by Noon (12 p.m.)
Need security team there by 1 p.m.
Things we may still need (or may need to work out)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Porta-potties (have to check with Don again, he may provide these)
Walkie-Talkies (need some way to communicate with everyone, and security/stage people need to talk to one another)
Lights for stage ? (check with Don and see if this is provided, if NOT, than we may be able to use whatever rig Tut and I end up getting on Oct. 27th.)
Get a more detailed list of what food/drinks will be provided back stage for band members (pass this onto the bands)
Make sure you (Bobby Lynn) take your portable CD player and a selection of your blues CD's. This will more than likely be the only way to provide pre-show/intermission music.
Go by Wal-Mart and get generic roll of tickets
Tickets will be sold at gate, but we could also work out someway of selling advance tickets
(If we do decide to sell advance tickets, than the ticket price may need to be adjusted, because advance tickets are usually cheaper, example: $10 advance, $15 at gate)
Need to decide how much of KingTut's sound equipment we are going to use, and how much of Dons will be used. I know that Dons snake will absolutely have to be used, because Tut's is not long enough, and Don's is already built in and placed under-ground.
Need to start making flyers....two kinds: 1.) this one needs to be taylored towards getting bands to sign up for this show
2.) this one should be just an announcement of the show, may not need to be done until closer to actual show time
Need to get printer catridges for our printer, and than I could make these flyers myself, otherwise do them by hand
Get pre-list stage set-up plans from each band for Johnny (this should include # of channels, # of monitors, what kind of instruments, band size, who will use reverb, ect.)
Bands who are looking to book a slot (2 slots open)
