Dungeons always help me out a lot, especially ones that are full of bandits or vampires, once you get higher in level they always have sweet armor and weapons that you can sell and make a ton of gold.

Now, I'd like to remind you all that we're recording live, so you can't say "hell" or "crap" or anything like that!

I just started going back to old dungeons that I had cleaned out at much lower levels, and yeah I'm seeing a lotta sweet weapons and armor. Glass, elven, mithril. But still nothing for heavy armor. >_<

Oh well, finally making money.

I think the game gets more gold later on but levels 6-8 or so are pretty hard to come by gold.

I have like 18,000 gold, and nothing I really want to spend it on. I'm doing the Dark Brotherhood, so I'll end up getting Shadowmere, which is a better horse then anyone I could buy. I already have a cool little house on the Imperial Waterfront. Maybe once I'm done being a thieving murderer I'll buy a nicer house to "retire" too.

I finished the Mage Faction quests, so I get the Arch Mage quarters. I also did the Knight Errant quests (Lleyawin (sp?)) and get to use White Stallion Lodge too.

Along w/ the Imperial house in Waterfront, that makes 3 houses for me. I need to figure out which general vendor (in which city) offers the most gold to trade for. Imperial is limited to 800 gold. So I can't get anything more than the merchant's limit no matter how much more valuable (i.e. 3k+ gold for a daedric weapon) the item is.

The limit is 1,000 gold in Lleyawin. Any (general) merchant offering more?

Found a bit of a glitch/cheat in Kvatch. Friend told me about it. There is an Orc in the "refugee" area of Kvatch that will purchase your weapons and armor. If you go in on a horse, and stay on the horse, speak to her and get in the barter menu. Once there, go to your equiped weapon, and choose to sell it. When you do, the game will tell you that you cannot unequip this item (because you are currently riding the horse) but you'll still get the gold for selling it. You can do this as many times as you want and keep selling it. Only bad thing is she only has a 200 gold limit, so it takes awhile to get any good cash flow going.

I'm around level 20 now... The drops on humans are usually nice (ebony and glass armor and weapons - often worth $1K each). I've got about $40K now. I'll probably buy some expensive spells with it, maybe a couple more houses. But, the money train is in the station. I've got no money worries at this point.

Dungeon areas with monsters kind of suck, very little loot. Humanoids have the best drops (armor and weapons mentioned above). There was one place with giant spiders that I just ran through to completed (had to drop a staff on an altar), then ran out, without attacking back. It just wasn't worth the effort when all you get for drops are potion ingredients worth $50.

I suspect there's a game balance bug with this. The dungeons have minimal loot ($50-100 in chests), also the quests pay off are in the same range. But, the drops on the humanoids are 10x more cash. Maybe, my level is higher than the dungeon somehow? This could be another side-effect of the way they do level balancing.

One trick that I've been doing is to pickpocket people, even friendlies. Especially, if they are in bed when I go to see them. Oh, and I'm a vampire now too, so I usually feed on them first too. I get close, in sneak, then save, and retry the pick-pocket until I get away with it. I've made a few thousand this way. In some cases, I was able to do the same NPC twice (got a glass claymore off a guy, twice).

I didn't go to the Imperial City until I was level 15 or so. So, I'd been cautious about stealing, there didn't seem to be a point. But, I've been doing a lot of Thieves Guild quests now and I have a decent fence (sells for up to $800) as well.

The humans (bandits, mauraders, and necromancers) have the best loot by far. The reason for this is that the NPCs are leveled, and carry loot corresponding to their level. So if you're level 25, there's a good chance the maurader's carrying a pricey daedric weapon worth 3-5k. The problem, though, is that if you find a 5k drop, and the most you can sell to a trader is for 1.2k, that sorta defeats the purpose of finding a pricey drop.

If anyone managed to find an NPC buyer paying more than 1200 gold, plz let me know!

I hate how the leveling of the NPC's affects there equipment. It ruins the point of working hard to find really nice armor since you can just find it on bandits and crap at a certain point.

Yeah, the 1.2K limit kind of blows, but it's not like there isn't plenty of money around, so whatever. I'd do the mod, but I'm probably better off without it. Once I start to cheat in a game, it quickly gets out of hand, I become a God and my interest in the game melts like wax on a wood-stove.

I'm all decked out in green glass these days because of the nice drops... I can't complain. I've never bought armor off a vendor, not sure if I ever will. WoW is like that too, vendors have crap.

Only thing I bought from a vendor was from Rindir's (sp?) Staffs in the Imperial City. In Morrowind, I always used blunt weapons, particularly staffs. So, I wanted a good one here. To my surprise, you can't use them as a regular striking weapon, only the magical enchantments! Oh, well, still a great staff to get rid of some tough enimies quickly. It has fire, frost, and shock for 33 points each, so 99 points total *yes* . Only 12 uses though *frown* .

I'm decked out in Green from head to toe, plus shield. Also got a glass war axe (one hand blunt weapon) that I plan to start using when I master blade. The interesting part, though, is that Light Armor is a minor skill for me (I mastered heavy armor already). To raise my light armor skill level, what I do is go to Villerin (sp?) the first dungeon right across the river from Imperial sewer. There's an archer and a blunt fighter on patrol outside. I'll put myself in a corner, and just let them hit me. Get too low on hp, hold down the "c" button for a low level healing spell. So i'm jacking up skill in light and restoration for little work. I'm up to 80 light right now. woot!

Yeah, I absolutely hate the fact that you can't "melee" w/ staves. Using staffs will require carrying plenty of trapped soul gems for frequent recharging.

I'm trying to avoid doing cheaty things to upgrade my skills... I did that a lot in Morrowind and it eventually resulted in my losing interest in the game. My skills seem to be advancing reasonably on their own. I do jump around as I walk from place to place. I also will do a save-pickpocket-load-when-caught loop (kinda cheaty). But, overall, I'm doing fine with just questing and playing straight most of the time.

I need a glass helmet and boots... I haven't found those yet...

Yeah, that's why I only use my staff if I am having a big problem with a certain enemy, as it usually is about a 2-hit kill.

If you're effective with your hotkeys, you could set it up so you have you primary weapon on one and the staff and the other. Nail an enemy with a shot from the staff (8 sec paralysis), switch over to your primary and hack the crap out of them.

Yeah, I'm already doing something like that with my soul trap, when they are almost dead, I swap it in, zap, then back to my sword. I should hot-key it... didn't think of that. Though, I bet it will still be kind of clunky. When I'm in combat, my attacks often get delayed, so it wont let me swtich until I'm done attacking. I think it's from being blocked or magicked...

if your in mages guild, or have frostcrag spire, you can enchant a set of armor to boost strength and can carry extra stuff.
then you can make spells for feather and boost strength.
with this i can carry almost 1000
and if you have even more stuff to carry than that, just drop the heaviest thing and carry(like moving it around in the air, its left back on 360, not sure on computer) it till you can fast travel, and come back later.
i filled the house in bruma with so much crap, when i sold it all it was over 200k, n the merchant had a 600 limit.

or if you want $ fast just use the arrow dupe

got 270k now, i don't even pick up loot anymore....
