Huzzah for Gogamer.
I just got this baby in the mail, but I have some questions. It seems like my version is a cheap version with all the stuff just thrown in there. Just wondering if anyone else's like this.
It came with a regular box, not one of those newer clamshell cases I've come to love. It came with a disc sleeve not a jewel case, and just one disc. I think it's the DVD version even though I thought I was getting the regular CD version, if there is one. Also, it came with the manual, map, and two slips.
Installing it now. Can't wait.

That's just how my copy was packaged as well. I bought it through the mail from Newegg.com .

Wow. I installed it, went to play it, it said that it had to use the lowest settings (which I was fine with, knowing it wouldn't run great with my card) and it went to the main menu. I went to play the game, and the opening cinematic came up. I couldn't even watch it, it was too slow and messed up. Then came the actual game after I skipped the scene.
The game, even in the cell, looked great, but because of it, my computer just couldn't handle it. It was near unplayable. I went to the options and turned everything to the lowest setting, and restarted it.
I went back to play hoping it would be playable, but no. Can't play it. Gotta get my computer fixed.
Damn me for not sending my motherboard back to Asus. Damn me.

Hmm, I have a Pentium 4 3.06 GHz, 1 gig RAM, and the reason it's not working, a Nvidia Geforce 5500 PCI card. I have another, a much better one (Better be for the price I paid) however I have a messed up motherboard that I need to but have been too lazy to get fixed. The reason I need that is because my new card is PCI Express, and lame HP gave me a crappy mobo with only PCI slots.

yeah... I just went through switching to a new PCI-Express mobo and graphics card... it was a bit bumpy, but I'm all set now. | virtuadept

Yeah, PCI cards just aren't going to cut it for Oblivion. Depending on what kind of RAM you have, you can probably get a new mobo and put your CPU and RAM on it. BTW, there is no CD version of the game, it's DVD only.

I'm sorry to hear that Ryan. Express card is like a must nowadays for the newer PC games. I'm really thankful that I made sure to get a desktop w/ a PCI-E slot available (my desktop was purchased before Xmas).

Oh no, don't worry. I have all the equipment I need, which is the main reason I bought the game. I have an ATI Radeon X850 PCI Express card and a motherboard with a PCI Express slot, however it got fried when I tried to install it. Stupidly and lazily, I haven't sent it back until today, so in a couple weeks I should be fine.

I went on IGN and I saw that they had something for Oblivion that works with older graphics cards. I clicked it of course because I was willing to try anything to get it working. It gave a site, www.oldblivion.com and there you can download a program that makes Oblivion able to work without a great card. I downloaded it, tried it, and it works great. The graphics are wonderful, and they're not even turned up all the way. I can't wait til I get my mobo back in the mail, then I'll be set and I can play it with everything maxed up (hopefully).
Anyway, I've been playing but I need to know one thing (I must have skipped it when it told me). How do I drop items?

I had the same problem initially, Ryan. Try holding down "shift" and mouse click on the item you want to drop. that should do it, if I remember correctly.
