This topic is going to be spoiler rich, so just be warned.

One of my favorite RPG moments was in Planescape: Torment when the Nameless One meets finally meets up with Ravel. The whole conversation tree with her was just fascinating. This scene impacted the rest of the game too which was great.

In Super Mario RPG, when Mallow and Mario meet Toad near the edge of town and ask him why he didn't try to stop Croco (sp?) from escaping. Toad's response: "Because I left my bazooka at home, sheesh."

CLASSIC.

Ha, I think they do that in Super Paper Mario too. Some uber-nerd tries to woo the princess or something. I don't remember the details...

This is probably more of a niche one, it seems that not many people liked this game as much as I.

In Legend of Dragoon when Lavitz gets killed, I always remember that for some reason, I think just because it was really unexpected. Also, up to that point I think the only other time I had seen a major playable character die was the famous Aerith scene.

The only lame part was that they just replaced him with Albert which was the exact same type of character and he just acquired all the stats that Lavitz already had.

For some reason, discovering the first dungeon in Skies of Arcadia was awesome for me. That game has a lot of fond memories, actually, it was so awesome on the DC.

The opera in FFVI, of course. Breathtaking, back in the day.

Lots of others, too, more to come...

the conclusion of Planescape Torment was one of the best endings of any video game I've ever played. Up until that point I'd never found a video game story that was more than just "fluff", but PST actually made me think. The philosophical questions it raised and the extremely compelling setting made that game one of the most enjoyable interactive stories i've ever experienced.

another great moment for me was the part in Final Fantasy X when you realized that...
Spoiler
Tidus was a "dream", and that once his quest was over he would fade away.

that kind of choked me up. Plus the final show down with Sin and how ...
Spoiler
Tidus had to face down his own inferiority complex regarding his dad and what his dad had become

was pretty awesome too.

I also really liked how FFIV you start out as a bad guy and turn to the good side.

And the whole intro part of FFVII before you make it to the world map was cool (tho a bit longish for an intro). I especially liked the part right after that where Cloud talks about his first mission with Sephiroth. i'm just replaying FF7 now so this is fresh on my mind. the part where Cloud has to dress up like a girl was pretty hilarious.

Right off the top of my head:

The intro sequence to FFVI; it alone made me play the game from start to end. That game (and FF1) is the only FF that I actually completed.

Another of my fav moments was in Planescape Torment, when you first meet Vhailor; you can actually talk him and convince him that there's no reason for his existence. Then he dies and you get XP! Such a rad game!

I liked in FFX-2 when you come across Lulu and Wakka and what? *BOOM* Wakka's got his seed growing all up in that. Very different, but I was like..."w-t-f mate?"

Wait...what? I never played FFX-2, so what does this mean exactly? Squaresoft wouldn't have a....would they? I checked an FFX website, and it says Wakka's weapon of choice is "balls." What???

Wakka banged her probably sometime during FFX and they hid it from everyone else, or in between the games, and she's pregnant in FFX-2. in FFX he uses blitzballs as his weapon because he was a blitzball player (pretty good one too if you get him on your team if I remember correctly)

Some balls are held for charity, and some for fancy dress,
But when they're held for pleasure they're the balls that I like best.
My balls are always bouncing, to the left and to the right.
It's my belief that my big balls should be held every night.

One of my favorite moments in an RPG, just off the top of my head, was in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow when you found out

Spoiler
Soma is actually Dracula, well, at least has his soul, or something to that nature

That kinda surprised me.

One of my most recent favorite/surprising moments was at the end of Blue Dragon when you found out

Spoiler
Zola was working for Nene the whole time

It was pretty obvious now, looking back, but at the time, I was like, oh, wow, didn't see that coming.

I played the Blue Dragon demo, and totally demolished it.(but that's not saying much) It seems that once you get enough skills, it's fairly easy to do well in that game. I mean the double strike and double cast and whatnot

Here's another fav moment of mine:

In Ultima 7, there was a spell called Armageddon. Well, once I got it, I cast it...lo and behold, it kills almost everyone in the game, including your party members! The only ones that survive were you, Batlin, and Lord British.

I'm in a mood to replay Final Fantasy VII. As much I as I express my dislike for the game, it was still an epic adventure, and the storyline(besides the thing with Sephiroth's mom) was pretty cool.

Hands down winner if the topic is the resurrection scene in Shadow Hearts Covenant. Best RPG moment ever.

I remember getting smacked when I was 12 or 13 for yelling HOLY CRAP playing FFIV when Rydia returned in the underground. Mom caught me good with a spatula *frown* . Still was badass though.

The death scene in Phantasy Star II was awesome, especially at the time, and was pretty influential in games like FF7

Suikoden II had some good moments, notably the "flashbacks" when you first get your rune

Star Ocean Second Story had a nice WHAT THE FUDGE ending of disc 1

Chrono Trigger had a bunch of moments. Quite a few considering the shortness of the game.

Xenogears did as well. The Yggdrasil getting thrown on you was pretty awesome, and Im pretty sure my jaw was dropped from the time Citan turned on you till the end of Disc 1.

Here's a moment that's not necessarily a favorite of mine, but will never be forgotten. After you beat the last fight in Anachronox, the game shows your characters walking off, ready to take on the real enemy. And then it ends. And there's no sequel. WTF!!!
