is cRPG supposed to be computer?
so far my favorite RPG this year is Blue Dragon, but Persona 3 is also pretty nice, and i haven't yet played Eternal Sonata. Hellgate is pretty fun but i'd give BD the edge over that one. I also haven't tried the NWN2 expansion that just came out recently. and Mass Effect is still on the way, I'm hoping it tops everything.
Zelda Phantom Hourglass certainly deserves an honorable mention if you consider the Zelda games as RPGs (which they sort of are). Excellent use of the touch screen on that one and surprisingly good graphics for the DS.
I think we can all pretty much agree that Oblivion was #1 for 2006.
for MMORPG, WoW is still the king, baby. But LotRO is surprisingly good as well.

Mass Effect will take it, IMO, although I've played very few of the contenders this year.
World of WarCraft has been my MMO of the year for three years running--it's such an amazing game, on so many fronts, it's hard to top. LOTRO is decent, though.

I am waiting for them to release a demo for Mass Effect, I am not into sci-fi RPGs, so I would want to play a demo first. I also do not play MMO's, and ME has great looking graphics, so hopefully its not an MMO either.

WOW! is all I can say, I saw a display of this today in an EBG, and this dude was playing, it looked fudging amazing! I normally don't like sci-fi rpgs, but this is now the #1 rpg on my list to get, damn it, that pushes eternal sonata back even further.
and what the hell is up with all the damn good games coming out now, all at once, October through December, no ones getting crap from me this year, I'm spending it all on myself and buying all my games.

We should have an actual vote, but since it's been a while, I'll list all the nominations so far:
The Witcher (PC)
Eternal Sonata (X360)
Mass Effect (X360)
Blue Dragon (X360)
Hellgate: London (PC)
Persona 3 (PS2)
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (NDS)
I will take nominations for 2 more days and then we can vote for the best RPG of 2007!
