It was definitely something different. Most of the people I played with were new as well, but we had one dude who was somewhat of a D&D vet. I think we'll probably play alot more because the possibilities are endless and you can practically do whatever you want, for the most part. But I do need to know...Where can I find some cheap Players Handbooks and dice? I'd prefer not to download a PDF and print it out, but will if he prices are fudging insane.

I'm not entirely sure offhand, buuuuuuut you may wanna wait anyway since the 4.0 ruleset is coming out soon anyway (and from what I've seen, it looks to be much better).

Well we're playing on 3.5 and the DM and the Vet player doesn't like the idea of 4.0 because they say from what they've heard they're just making it too simple minded and stuff. I guess they're taking out Grapple or a something to do with rolling for grapple because it takes too much time. I don't know for sure. I just know they don't like it so we played what we call '3.3' a mix between 3.0 and 3.5

I don't even know if I could get into it really. I just like the concept. The roleplaying would be the hardest part. All it is is acting, really. But you sorta feel silly, which is funny, but ah well. I just wanna be ready for next time. I just need some 3.5 books and might as well get me some dice.

dice are pretty cheap...you can get a full set for like $5.
A Player's Guide is $20 new I think...and well worth it if you have a group to play with.

Amazon has the PHB New for $19.77 and can qualify for Prime or their Free shipping thing. I would say it's worth it to get one even though 4th edition is coming in June. You can also pre-order the 4th edition PHB for a little more. Most people will not upgrade to 4.0 right away, but eventually in all likelihood even the hatas dissing on it now eventually will upgrade if they want to continue buying new material.

I've never actually played PNP DND before. My pseudo-experience with DND is strictly limited to computer RPGs. Like Darksun, Ravenloft, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Planescape Torment. |

Good old fashioned AD&D is the BEST RPG experience you will have. Video games just try to emulate it, but can't even come close.
If you have a good group of people that will play good and not try to play 'fudge the DM' and a DM that won't try to screw you over for creative ideas...it's pure heaven!

You might want to work on your people skills first. Or maybe invest in solo play Choose Your Own Adventure books?
