Now that I can use Paypal (they finally accept Debit cards! Yay!) I'm getting used to purchasing items from the US. However, I recently bought something on Ebay (for US$22), which doesn't offer me the option of using Paypal, and while I can send the money via Western Union, I don't really fancy the hassle OR the fee! I was wondering if some kind soul here would be willing to receive the money (plus the cost to cover the P&P and the small fee incurred by Paypal) and then send a check to the guy direct? It'd make things cheaper and easier for me, and I'd really appreciate it
If not then I'll just have to send via Western Union... or money in an envelope (a tad risky, but at least there's no fee!)
Thanks

Ebay uses billpay, don't they? It's pretty much the same thing as paypal as I understand it.

The user doesn't want to use it :S
They'll only accept cash, a cheque, Postal Money Order (International ones in the UK don't go to the US) or Western Union.
Bit of a problem for me, really
(My own fault fo rnot checking what payment they accepted though - what can I say - I was tired at the time! )

Actually, they bought PayPal last year, and that's the preferred electronic payment method now.

...
*cough*
Soo, would anyone be willing to help?
I'm pretty sure that $30 through Paypal will cover the $22 cheque, postage and the cut PayPal take [3%?]

I'd be willing to help, Yann. I doubt it will cost $8 though. Checks are free, postage is only 37 cents, and PayPal charges 3.9% plus a small flat fee depending on your currency (if I am reading their chart right). I would say an extra $2 ($24 total) would cover it. Just let me know and I could mail it the next day.

No problem, Yann. Got your PayPal already and I've sent you an e-mail verifying the details.

I've always thought it was funny how our nation gained its independence through a brutal war with England and today our countries are the staunchest of allies.

Well, politically it seems to be so, I guess... (The UK may be the most pro-war of all European countries in terms of public support as well as Tony Blair's support, but even so the vast majority are still against the idea of attacking without a second resolution, and 44% are against it at all odds. Not to mention the huge rift appearing in the Labour party over it...)
I'd agree that generally British and American people get on well though - I guess it's just the language (we get on well with the Canadiens and Aussies too... and, by all accounts, the French mix well with the Quebecois - so maybe language is the main deciding factor. Would we be so willing to view the Islamic countries as being completely seperate from us if they had the same first language, I wonder? No matter, that's a question for a different time and place)

To everyone all over the world, regardless of what language you speak. If your not part of the solution(removing saadam, preferably 1 limb at a time) then your part of the problem. PERIOD!

But it's fair to say that people would have found it harder to see the whole Middle East as completely seperate from the rest of the world if they all spoke the same language (or indeed had the same religion).
'Course, that's a purely hypothetical situation, and kind of pointless to muse about

I get a lot of things free with my bank account (checks, safety deposit box, travelers checks, etc) because I have set up my retirement savings accounts with the bank. Most bank accounts here make you buy the checks and some charge fees for writing checks.
