Ok here we go again! Now many or most of you already know how to play, but I have taken a moment to try and clarify the rules, so please take a moment to revise them to be sure you are up to date and clear on how things go.
Here is my update on WHAT this game is about, WHY we are doing it and HOW to play.
WHAT THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT:
My forum is often about meeting people, and getting to know them, their likes, dislikes, and dirty little secrets, and having fun and laughs together...so I have found a game that fits in to the general scheeme of things, it's called 2 TRUTHS AND A LIE.
The game is about FUN, so enjoy yourself and be as daring with what you share as you dare! After all, most of the fun is not the lie, but finding out what crazy truths you are telling us!
DON'T FORGET! This is NOT about prizes. Though I have in the past and MAY in the future offer prizes in a given month, there is NEVER a guarantee that I will do so. If you are here and playing for a prize, then you are here for the wrong reasons, as I said before it's abot FUN and getting to know and enjoy people, NOT about prizes.
THE RULES:
1) Someone writes 3 statements. Two of these statements MUST be TRUE statements, and the other one a lie. They need not be related to each other, and can be on any subject as personal or impersonal as the person wishes.
2) During the 48 hours following the posting of the 3 statements, all other participants are allowed ONE SINGLE GUESS (any 2nd guesses will be deleted), trying to figure out which of the 3 statements is the lie. No editing of the guesses, nor the statements is allowed. Any "special" circumstances I will make a final ruling on.
3) After approximately 48 hours (the timeline will not be strict, as it's all in fun) the person who posted the statements will reveal to us which of the 3 was in fact the lie.
4) After the lie is revealed, a name is RANDOMLY selected from amongst all those who correctly guessed the lie. Once the person has been selected that person will have about 24 hrs to post the next 3 statements and so on...
5) Someone cannot be the "LIAR" again until at LEAST 2 others have had a turn. That person can still guess, but here is what happens if they should be lucky enough to be drawn again within those 2 turns which they cannot go: Since they are ineligable to go themselves, they instead win the pleasure of selecting ANYONE else who participated in that same round, wether they guessed right or not! (the fun of being lucky). This will also add a little spice and randomness to the game at times!
6) Other than in the above case, no one is allowed to pass on their turn to anyone else, or it would defeat the fun of the game.
7) If there is even a hint that someone is cheating, they will be disqualified from playing until further notice. So just play fair and have fun!
8) The statement that is the LIE cannot mearly be a variant or deveation from something that is true. This means that saying something like "I spent 3 years repeating grade 5" and saying it's a lie because you only spent 2 years. The LIE must be something that is completely false and not just a slight twist one something true.
If new rules need to be added, I will add them here at the beginning of this thread so they can always be seen. As we play we may find that new guidelines need to be set in place to keep it rolling properly.
So for now, let's have fun, be as risky as you dare (and if you get very risky, please state things in a way that is not indecent), but remember, don't be affraid to participate, you are under NO obligation to reveal anything personal, you can make as simple or as risky statements as YOU wish, so don't be worried! The only thing you are obliged is to allow us a little goodhearted teasing and snickering if it's fun/funny .
Now let's get this all rolling again, if someone you know has stopped playing because the thread got too long, let them know it's back and shorter again. As always, lets have fun, that's what it's all about!

Fixr, I edited your first post to add the rules. I was going to do that myself if I had started the thread, but now that you've done it, I figured it was easier to make it look like you reposted the rules as well.

Just thought I'd let everyone here know that I will be leaving today for a week's vacation and won't be online at all. Staying several days in Orlando and going on a 3-day cruise to Nassau, just the wife and I. Never been on a cruise before, so we thought we'd start with a short one to see how we like it. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. I will be back on 1/21/04. I'll miss you guys, but I'll be thinking of all of you 24/7, hehe. |
