This topic will direct your attention to some of the more useful mIRC options. These options/settings will work with (or without) the GTZ mIRC scripts.


LINE MARKER

open options (alt-o) and expand +display
hilite 'options' and click the 'line marker' button
check the 2 boxes for 'show' and 'reset'

now when you return to any mIRC window (chat query status), you will see a marker line showing where you left off. If you dont see the line, it probably scrolled up and you can press CTRL L to jump to the marker.

DCC Send / Chat

If you are having difficulty with DCC Send or Chat, try this:

From mIRC Options --> Connect --> Local Info,
Clear the Local Host and IP address info...
On Connect, always get ---> Local Host.
Lookup Method ---> Server.

Now Disconnect and reconnect to the server and try your DCC Send again.


DCC Receive

Press ALT O... select +DCC...
...select "show get dialog" & "auto accept chat".

Press ALT O... expand +DCC... select Options...
...check 3 boxes to notify w/beep on completion.

Press ALT O... expand +DCC... select Ignore...
...set drop-menu to Disabled...
...UNcheck the box to turn Ignore back.

Timestamping

To add timestamping to mIRC chat, open mIRC and type the following commands...

/timestamp on

Now mIRC will display the time for chat and events.

Highlighting

To add text highlighting to mIRC chat...

To hilite your own text blue...
Type this command... /color own text 12



To hilite the switchbar so you see activity in other windows...
press ALT-O then hilite Display
check every checkbox except "fill switchbar"
set the 3 colors boxes to... red, red, blue

To hilite text when other people say your name...
press ALT-B... select Highlight tab... check Enable Highlight... click ADD...
...for words type "$me" (without quotes)... select color (red is good)...
...match on Message... don't check case-sensitive...
...select color (red is good)... select sound (beep is good)...
...check the box to flash 5 times...

To set up the systray icon...
press ALT-O... expand +Display... select Options... Click Tray...
...check all boxes EXCEPT "on startup minimize mIRC to tray" (and single click).

Sounds

To set up message sound alerts, try these settings...
Press ALT O... select +Sounds... check 'Enable sounds'...
...select Query (and DCC chat) from the drop-menu...
...Select CHIMES.WAV (sound)...
...select Highlight (from the drop-menu)... Select DING.WAV (sound)...
...check (beep on message) Query and Chat message...
...UNCHECK (beep on message) Channel and Buffer message...
...check Use internal beep... set Beeps = 1... Delay = 50...

Listbox Selection

To allow immediate right click in nicklist box, try this setting...
Press ALT O... hilite +Other and click Keys...
Check "Right click in listbox selects line"

Connect options

Press ALT O... expand +Connect... select Options...
...check "Reconnect on disconnection".
... uncheck the other options.

...... right click the Status Window for GTZ login
...... when you first run mIRC and want to connect.

Other options

Press ALT O... select +IRC... check Prefix own message...
...check Iconify query window... check Rejoin channel when kicked...
...check Rejoin channel on connect... check Keep channels open.
expand +IRC... select Options... check Flash on Query...

Logging

To set up chat logging, try these settings...
press ALT-O... expand +IRC... select Logging ...
...select settings shown in image below...

The Advanced mIRC script for GameTZ has a User Info menu link to Find... PM Logs... This link will work best if logging options are set up as shown, and the log folder is sorted by Filename in reversed order... so the most recent PM log is the first one found (with the files grouped by user or channel).

Popup Whisper (PM) Windows

If you would like your Private Message windows to pop up like little IM's, try the follow settings...
Press ALT O... expand +Display...
select Options... click Windows button...
check Query... check Chat...
check Open windows on top by default...
click OK... click OK again

Next...
Open a Whisper (PM) window...
Select Your Font (type /font)...
Adjust window size... adjust window position...
Click window icon in window title bar...
...click Desktop (if not already checked)...
...click On Top (if not already checked)...
...click Position... Save Default

This setup should now be complete. PM's will appear as popups!
