No no no, this won't be your normal D&D alignments are inconsistant with one another rants.
This topic is to name 'well known' characters and thier D&D alignment so people know what each alignment is.
LG - Superman, Aquaman, Dumbledore, Hermione Granger
NG- Ajax, the martian manhunter, Harry Potter
CG- Robin Hood, Green Arrow, Spider-man, Darkwing Duck, Punisher *, Batman (1 Lawful incarnation & some NG, although as a vililante this is his most common alignment)
LN- Judge Dread
NN-
CN- Wolverine, Lina Inverse
LE- Magneto, Lex Luthor, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy
NE- the Ultra Humanoid, Xellos
CE- The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Megavolt
My friends and I had a dicussion about this, but I can't remember much of our choices. Any suggestions/ changes accepted, with a little reasoning. The more characters for each alignment the better to show diversity.
Edit includes names added below.
*This character still being debated, when this post last edited.

LG - Superman,
CG- Batman, Spider-man, Punisher
CN- Wolverine
LE- Magneto
Anyone who is basically a vigilante for good would be CG, so that's why I put Batman there instead of LG (because he breaks quite a few laws in order to "serve justice").

TMK only the Adam West Batman can be LG, his Bruce Wayne persona appears LG in nearly any incarnation, but Batman is CG.
We need at least one LN & NN.
nihon, where would you put Lina Inverse? Xellos?
Maybe place a few Harry Potter characters, or Disney characters.... hmmm

Thatīs the trick, Batman hunts down criminals to bring then to Justice for the good of the people of his city, the gothan politics are corrupt(LE), so that rules canīt be followed, if the law is rigth( are for the common good) he donīt bend it, but this are only my humble opinion
And Punisher maybe conīt be called a good guy, kills too often in the name of his cause/vengeance maybe CN or NN are better to him

Punisher kills or punishes people in the name of good. He's a vigilante, and is seeking justice in his own twisted way, so CG works for him.

Donīt think so, he kill for vegeance more than justice, Batman have his family killed on a similar way, but donīt kill anyone, hunt the criminals and bring them to justice, killing when you can look for another way to make justice donīt seens good to me, CN imho

Punisher is killing people who have done some horrible wrong. He has a sense of justice, no matter how twisted and absurd it may seem to anyone else. He doesn't kill people just to kill them. He's doing it to "bring them to justice" because he thinks the system has failed somehow. He has no use for laws unless they work for him, and he's doing it for the greater good. Definitely falls into CG.
If he was CN, he wouldn't care what anyone else did as long as balance was maintained between good and evil. Vigilantes are never CN.

If he belives that are making the "greater good" itīs donīt means that he really are doing the greater good, he becomes paranoic, donīt thrust(missoelling?) the system anymore because it failed with him, he aparently donīt mind if the System can work on another situation, to me looks like he kill criminals because every time is like he are killing the people that take his family away, he makes his own justice, this is chaotic enough, but kill in the name of this "justice" is not good, thatīs is my point, so he only kill criminals, so heīnot evil, donīt kill for pleasure (like sabretooth), he have some parameter, he have some dignity left but what he do is not good definitely, again this is just my opinion

Not actually knowing the chracter, Abjurer sound like he's making some good points. Perhaps looking at each axis seperately Abjurer is getting one result, while nihon is looking at alignment as a whole and getting another.
Maybe I should summurise each alignment axis.
Lawful - Doesn't comit crimes, keeps their word
Neutral - Doesn't like to comit crimes, will do so if considered nessessary, or if they infringe too much on liberty.
Chaotic - Doesn't care about what 'the law' says, thinks personal freedom is most important.
now that I do this, I can't think of a reasonable example...
Good: makes sacrifices for others, fights demons, devils and undead
Evil: cruelity for the sake of being cruel, fights angels, archons, summons & works with Demons, Devils & undead.
Neutral: anyone inbetween
Yep, must be bed time.

NN - dunno, maybe Galactus or Brainiac and Definitely Metron of New Genese, Galactus are like a cosmic force, he "eat" planet for need, he really donīt mind if the planet have sentient life forms or not (he have heralds for choose planets for him), good, evil, law and chaos dont means nothing to him, and the same can be said about Brainiac, i think, dont know the character that much, but being him some IA he just want to dominate/remove humans from the planet because he follows some logic, and for Metron only knowledge is worth, this guy makes everything to know all things, he very driven on a cause that are neutral
LN - still thinking on it but Orion of New Genese but not so sure...
