I just read a hands-on look GameSpot had of this game. I'm losing faith. It sounds like they messed with the formula too much. Also, I saw a couple import reviews on Metareview and they seem to confirm that. I'm going to wait on getting this one right now. Maybe reads some reviews and trade for it later. It makes me really mad they changed the tactics.

It ended up getting delayed a day in shipment so I'll be picking it up today instead. Going up around 7 or so to get my copy I'll play a bit and let you know.

Ok, started playing some today, got through the first floor of the tower, which is about 4 battles or so.
So far it seems pretty good. A lot like the original. Artwork is great, and each card has a short synopsis of who that character is, which I thought was pretty cool. Also there are new characters included, like Capcom has characters from Phoenix Wright in it. Music also caught my attention, it has an excellent soundtrack (at least I think so).
They've included some new additions to the battle system. Namely these little force things you need to execute any actions. I don't think I like this particular part. For example, even to put a character out on the field you have to have enough and the correct color of force icons. You start out with 3 grey icons, so in essence you could have a hand where you couldn't put any characters out and pretty much be screwed. It both adds and takes away from the strategy, as it causes you to think a lot more before taking action but also it seems every battle is just you and the computer saving up force icons before releasing a huge wave of attack, usually finishing a battle in one or two attacks.
Overall, it's a good game and I'm looking forward to playing through it. I don't think it'll be quite as good as the original, but it does keep pretty true to it other than a few odds and ends. Go pick it up, you'll enjoy it. Just takes a bit to get used to the new battle system.

Is it like Terry talking about "EXCREMENT!" in SNK vs. Capcom? I thought that was kind of funny. |

LoL pretty much. They randomly have extra words like "it is the is the one we're looking for" and in the records your cumulative battle record is shortened to "Cum Battle Record" Just stupid things like that
