Hi Guys,
I'm convinced that the 360 is the best new gen system to get for online play. Is there a way, on XBox live, to see what the most active (# of people playing) multiplayer games are?
I saw in one thread that Gears of War isn't that popular any more, and that COD 4 and Rainbow 6 2 are 2 of the most active. Any info/stats you could give me (like that) so that I know what to put at the top of my wanted list, I would appreciate it!
Thanks, and thanks to those that helped me confirm that the 360 is the best choice of console!
Rob

Army of Two didn't get very good reviews from GameSpot (although they did say online play was fun). Anyone playing this one? If so, how is it? |

The last time CoD4 wasn't #1 on the top 10 Xbox Live activity list was the week of 1/21.

OK...wtf @ DOOM being #2 on the most active XBLA games. When I bought it over the summer I could hardly ever find people playing, and when I did it was usually really laggy. I thought Uno would be higher on the list, it never takes more than 30 seconds of sitting in the lobby to get a 4 player game going.
Also, Halo 2 still has a lot of people playing it online.

If you look at the overall stats I'm sure Halo 3 still takes the crown, but Call of Duty has been going strong since it's release. I figured Madden would be higher on the list.
Kinda related but not really, I have about 600 points left what would be a better game to get Doom or Uno? I love Doom to death and I haven't played it in a long time but then I've heard how fun Uno is from many people. I'm stuck. |

I think the "Most Played" category are the games played by people registered on 360 voice, not necessarily games played on XBL.

Some clarification of the official (MajorNelson's) top 10 lists:
The 360 games list is based on unique users that have played the game while connected to live (so games that have no online multiplayer can still make the list).
The XBLA list is a ranking of how many users *bought* the game that week, not how many played it. |

Interesting stats. Looks like there's even some games that have been around for awhile that still have people playing them. I looked up two games that I have for the 360: Rainbow 6 Vegas and Call of Duty 2 and there are still people playing them even though there are sequels out (but I'm sure I should trade up to their sequels; I just got them to balance some trades I did recently).
Jin
Thank you for your link also, it was very helpful.
Thanks everyone.
The games I'm looking to get are:
1. Call of Duty 4
2. Gears of War
3. Halo 3
4. Rainbow Six Vegas 2
5. Burnout Paradise
6. Forza 2
7. Orange Box
Please let me know if I'm missing any outstanding multiplayer online games (that are still pretty active).
Thanks again,
Rob |

If you like sports games, some of the 08s are still played online. You might wanna wait for the 09's to come out though (unless you're a baseball fan).

I'll have to hold off on any special edition game purchases right now, thanks though.
Does anyone know, since you may have received a second hand 360: if I acquire a used 360 that is less than 1 year old, should Microsoft still honor the 1 year warranty, or does that only pertain to the original purchaser? |
DeputySchrute
| | #28 posted April 8, 2008 at 4:28pm (EDT) |
I believe they honor all warranties for a period of three years from manufacture date regardless of owner. I thought I read they extended all the warranties.

They extended the warrenty no matter what if it was built withing 3 years of the launch. Only a few months so far haven't gotten the extension. If it's over a year old, and you get the RROD (red rings of death), you should be fine.
Besides, I don't even think they care. I think they'll repair RROD no matter what.

Bought a new 360 on Amazon today!!! As stated above, I'm looking for the following games. Prefer to trade, but also would purchase for right price.
1. Call of Duty 4
2. Gears of War
3. Halo 3
4. Rainbow Six Vegas 2
5. Burnout Paradise
6. Forza 2
P.S. Has anyone else purchased a 360 from Amazon? If so, do they typically ship newly manufactured 360s? I definitely want one with a Falcon chip, but they weren't able to give me manufacture dates over the phone (but they do offer free return shipping).
Thanks again guys! See you online soon! For consistency-sake, I'm going to make my GamerTag RobAndDiana also if it's available (which I'm sure it will be ) (even though Diana doesn't play video games anymore that's why I need to play with strangers!)

I got my 1st XBox original game yesterday (Conker Live & Reloaded). I was surprised when I went into the XBox Live multiplayer, that there were many people still playing this game! It was a lot of fun. I think this is what Battalion Wars online should have been like (at least one of the modes).
If anyone has this game and still plays it online (or would like to dust off their copy), let me know. If I'm not on your friends list, please add me: RobAndDiana
Anybody playing other XBox original games online? I'm looking to get Star Wars Battlefront II, as that looks to still be played online (according to below stats I found on a website). Not that I don't already have enough 360 games to play, I just like variety, and a Star Wars title would round out my collection. Star Wars Unleashed looks good, but I usually don't get brand new games as soon as they come out.
Original Xbox Top Live Titles (based on UU’s)
1 Halo 2
2 Battlefield 2: MC
3 Star Wars: Battlfrnt 2
4 Counter-Strike
5 Splinter Cell Chaos
6 Call of Duty 3
7 Street Fighter Anniv.
8 Madden NFL 08
9 Fable
10 Rainbow Six 3

... Fable had no multiplayer.
Whenever I try to find a live match on SWBF2, it always says they're playing on maps I don't have. So, I go to pay for the maps ($5) and it won't download them or charge my account. I have no idea why. Can anyone help me with this??? |

It was fun. It's no COD4, but a nice escape from the ultra-real 360 shooters. Also, quite different from what I've played so far of Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's truly a completely different game. |
