I'll be getting a Best Buy gift card in the mail soon, and I'd like to buy a XBox Live Marketplace Points card. If you were to choose between downloading the new Halo 3 or COD4 map packs, which would you choose (assuming you play each game equally)?

I'm looking to save the rest of the points for a few Rock Band songs.

Thanks,
Rob

Depends on which game you play more. I highly reccomend the COD4 maps though. All 4 maps are excellent.

You're in a quite a dillema my friend.

As Jin said though, whichever you play more. I personally really enjoy the Halo 3 maps.

I've played a lot of COD4 since I got it 2 weeks ago, but started playing Halo 3 this week online and loving it. I especially thought that Zombie game we played last night was AWESOME!!! Is that a special mode of play that is unlocked later, cause I didn't see that on my current list of multiplayer games?

Not sure why I wasn't able to connect that last time, but looks like you logged off anyway.

Do either of those games' map packs include other multiplayer modes/weapons/etc.? Or are they strictly more locations?

I say download the Call Of Duty 4 maps, because the Halo 3 maps will eventually be free.
I don't think CoD 4's maps will be free anytime soon. You still have to pay to download extra maps for CoD2... Activision is responsible for 9/11.

These Halo maps have no distinct plans of being free at any time. They are all quality maps with more edit functions (like lighting) in Forge.

I vote Halo!

Bungie said they have no plans of making the Legendary Map Pack free at this point. I say go with Halo maps, because it includes Bungie Pro (if that promotion is still going. I kinda doubt it)

And even if it doesn't happen, the other pack is still free, so this way you have 1 free pack from Halo 3 and another CoD one - fair is fair!

Yeah, my internet was being junky yesterday too.

I'm not sure offhand, but those were infection games. (a custom game is what we were playing yesterday... I think I've seen infection on normal playlists before, but they change fairly frequently)

Bungie puts out every weekend (and certain holidays) different and special matchmaking options/types. Last weekend they had it where you spawned with different weapons every time you spawn. (some lucky guy got a Rocket Launcher and Energy Sword combo) The week before that it was team SWAT. (no radar, no shields, everyone has a BR... headshots galore)

Anyway, both the packs you are intrested in are just map packs to my knowlege.

The Halo 3 Legendary map pack doesn't look like it'll be free within the forseable future.

I think what Adam wrote makes the most sense. I already downloaded one map pack for Halo 3, so it does make sense to download the one for Call of Duty. I think Call of Duty it is.

As for Rock Band songs, I'm actually re-thinking that, cause I was singing on-line last night on medium level and really sucking it up. I think maybe I should concentrate on the songs that are already there before downloading more. It's just that I don't care for a lot of the songs included, but like some of the DLC songs. I played through on Easy, but now I should probably play through on Medium as there were songs that I heard on-line that I never heard in my life. There was some stupid song with Timmy from South Park in it, for heaven's sake!!! Where the he11 do they pull this crap from!!!

Thanks again for everyone's input.

That's why you'd buy songs, so you can get songs that you actually enjoy playing/singing, and the game will be a lot mor fun, and you'll do a lot better.

I now have like 105 songs for Rock Band, and that's only including like 60% of the DLC. Best purchases I've made on XBL.

As far as the argument of "the game has enough songs to keep you busy," yes that's true. However, if you play the game A LOT, playing the same songs over and over and over again starts to drag on you. Same can be said for the maps in H3/CoD4. IMO, you are missing out on a huge part of the game by not downloading any new songs.

Rock Band is awesome. When the game first came out...I bought songs that I only remotely liked because I want to support what they were doing so it would continue. The price point is great, the product is great and for $2 per song, I have guitar, bass, drums and vocals for solo, online multi and local multi at 4 different levels. It's great!

I'm going to go against myself with this comment but whatevs. Just keep in mind that you DON'T get 4 maps with CoD, you get 3. Yes, technically you get 4, but you'll likely never see the 4th (it's team tactical only) and it'll likely disappoint you anyway. Just a thought. Either way I'd still say go with CoD

On another site that I trade on, they are offering the Map Packs as a tradeable item, saying that as long as the code is unused, it is tradeable. Does anyone agree/disagree with this? They also say you can trade Live Arcade games also (which I did see some cards for Geometry Wars and another XBox Live Arcade game today at Target).

-Black Sabbath Pack (NIB, Sweet Leaf, and War Pigs)
-You've Got Another Thing Coming
-Blackened (it was tough deciding on this one, as Number of the Beast is another fav)

I think next time around, I'll get Number of the Beast and Calling Dr. Love.

Yes, absolutely. Probably even a smaller percentage of the good players on drums can beat Blackened on Expert than the good people on guitar that can play TTFAF.

Yeah, I've played with one guy who beat Blackened on expert. He's a platinum drummer, and he said it's doable when you're playing in a band (when others can use overdrive). Otherwise, it's almost impossible if you're playing by yourself. He barely passed it.

Seems to me like 1-2% of all drummers could probably beat that song by themselves on expert. Maybe even smaller, who knows

Yeah, the ratio is insanely smaller than the number of people who can beat TTFAF.

It sucks though because it's all due to the foot pedal, There's literally like almost a 2 pedals/sec during a long section of the song.

Do I hear a recommendation for two kick pedals for Rock Band 2 ??? Or at least make it an option?

Anyone see the Guitar Hero IV drum kit yet? Looks pretty cool. Has two cymbal pads above 3 circular pads. Also, Van Halen and Eagles already signed up to be featured on it.

Not at all. It's just a really hard song to play. Two kick pedals would make it even more impossible.

And GH4 also has Sublime. w00t.
