There's a lot of team tourneys going on, but we are having "every man for himself" tournaments on Wednesday nights 10:00 pm EST (7:00 PST). for GameTZ members only. I am willing to organize, but I don't know that I'll be able to make each tourney, so volunteers to host would be appreciated.
We'll accumulate points, kills, cash or whatever's appropriate for each game. We'll play for an hour and see who the top person is. We'll play a variety of game types (slayer/deathmatch, team deathmatch, hardcore, SWAT, etc.) All that I ask is please don't kill your teammates in hardcore, lets be sportsmen
There's no entry fee, but there will now be a prize! 2 weeks GameTZ subscription time to the winner, donated from the website (so we're now an officially sponsored event!). Only stipulation is that we have to have a decent turnout in order for a prize to be awarded (goal of at least 10 participants), and all participants must be GameTZ members (not necessarily subscribers, but have a GameTZ login).
Make sure that whoever is hosting that week is on your friends list (or on mine), that way you could join their party. Please try to show up 10 minutes before the game time. If anyone can think of a more effecient way, let me know. Please add me to your friends list if not already there (or if you're on the Machete/Rayzor's AA1 GameTZ list, I'm there also). If you are hosting, please be sure to document (preferably by taking pictures of end of round screens) the scores so that we have backup to determine the winner.
Since this is now an official event, we will have to choose one game each week. Rhythm games will have to be taken off as they are too difficult to track, and everyone won't be playing at the same time (against everyone else). So, we'll have to limit to shooters and racers, or whatever other game types you see fit (please let me know).
The prelim schedule for September for Wednesday nights and the games will be as follows:
9/3 Call of Duty 4
9/10 Gears of War
9/17 Burnout Paradise
9/24 ??Open?? R6V2, Halo 3, or Uno (please vote if you haven't already) |
These are the top games played on Xbox live, so most should have them. We'd like to keep this between GameTZers.
Please let me know if you're interested in playing.
Check out the GameTZ MVP & Play Date Forum HERE for more info.
Thanks,
Rob

Do we have to play all the games? I really only play CoD4 online. I never really played GTA4 online, so I don't know how I would be. I suck horribly at Vegas 2 online since I'm so used to CoD4. As for Halo 3, I sold it.
I suppose I could play CoD4, GTA4, and Vegas 2. As for Halo 3, I can't. | refloc

Definitely not (need all the games). It's MVP of the week, not the month, so play what you got. I just chose some of the top games. Month to month we may even be playing the same games unless someone recommends some others. In fact, I don't have R6V2, but I chose a week I'm on vacation so those who have it can play it. I don't have GTA4 yet, but should have by next week.
Also, just to make clear, this is not 1 on 1, but a private party game that is every man for himself. While we can still play team deathmatches, and the team can actually help each other, you're definitely looking out for #1 . Because, as I said, it's all in good fun. | robanddiana

Hoping this will become a weekly XBox Live thing for us GameTZers. We can either pick new games, keep some of the same . . . we'll see how it goes. Only other online game I have is Burnout Paradise. I just got Condemned 2, but I don't believe it has a good online component (nor do a lot of people have this one yet as far as I know) | Smaug317

Pretty schweet idea. Games to think about for additional weeks: (other big XBL games)
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Forza 2 (still big after a year!).
I can't promise anything, but, if I'm online around those time's I might play.
That is the question. | robanddiana

How would a GH3 tourney work? Would it be total points or total wins? I don't have GH3, but have a GH3 guitar. I don't know if I could play that for an hour, my hands would be killing after that. But still a possibility for those that can.

Again, that's the beauty, if you can make it, great, if not, try to catch us the next week. Also, if people want to set up another night with other games, that's cool too. Monday would be a good night for me. I've yet to play Burnout online, but would love to if enough others have that game. | EvilManDeadMan

We could also have a "GTZ Play Date" where we can just schedule a time and everybody who wants to come, can come. That way, we can all play for fun together on the same team. Then, we could include games like GH3, Rock Band, etc.

That sounds great too. I'm all for playing together, with the same people, on a regular basis. Whenever I log onto Xbox live, there's one person playing this game, and another playing that game. It's nice to get as many people as possible playing the same game. I thought the MVP would be fun just for the trash talk alone. | refloc

i actually like this idea very much, so that way theres no "sorry i couldnt make it but i had to ......" . this way its a 'if you make it, you make it. if you dont, wait a few weeks or play with a different game'. | robanddiana

I see you're on the AA1GameTZ friends list, so I'll get to you through there. Anyone else that wants to be part of the GameTZ friends list, Rayzor6 (Machete 13 on Xbox live) was kind enough to set up a Silver Membership with a list of GameTZers. If you're not on that list and are running out of room on your friend's list, see if he can add you to the AA1GameTZ tag. Just send a friend request to AA1GameTZ and let Rayzor6 know who you are. | EvilManDeadMan

No, I understood. Do you guys want to make Monday nights "GameTZ Play Date Night"? The reason I'm choosing those nights are because weekends are tough to get people together. Let me know.
If you want to do that, why don't we make next Monday Rock Band night, and the following can be GH3?
Let's say:
6/9 Rock Band
6/16 Guitar Hero III
6/23 Racing Night: Forza 2 or Burnout Paradise (whichever you have; or we could split them up (Forza one week, Burnout another)
6/30 ??? To be determined. Send more suggestions. Anyone interested in Gears of War (I forgot I had that one also, but haven't played much multi online versus)?

I also meant having like a COD night and Halo night too. We could just get groups of 4 for Halo and 6 for COD and play some Slayer and Deathmatch then mix up the teams later, etc, etc.

I don't think games like Rock Band and GH3 will work. I think we should stick to games with Deathmatch, like the ones you listed. Or racing games, like Forza 2. Basically any game where everyone can play all at once. | robanddiana

I do see your point. Do you agree Lil Ramsey/Smaug?
What other deathmatch games are there, that are popular (meaning most TZers would have it)?
I know there's Gears of War, GRAW 1 or 2 (Maybe we could do GRAW 1 as it is one of the most available games on TZ), Condemned 2 has a deathmatch but not if it's any good, Team Fortress . . . I know there are others, but these are some of the top rated games. Let me know of any other good online games we could play as teams.
There's also Xbox original games like Battlefront II and Conker Live
As for Rock Band and GH3, we could always have a "GameTZ Rock Out Night"??? There's Rock Band, GH3, American Idol , any others?

Bill was kind enough to give me a list of 360 games that are in users' collections. That way, we'll know who owns what games (these pretty much coincide with the most available list). I think we have most, if not all of the good multiplayer online games on our above list, but let me know if we should be adding any to our gaming nights (either MVP or Play Date). Also, please let me know if you guys would rather play Rainbow Six Vegas 1 or 2 (I guess you could also do both, and have an MVP on 1 and an MVP on 2).

I have pretty much all the games listed above, so I'd be willing to play whatever. My suggestion is to keep it with fairly current games (such as Burnout Paradise or Forza and not PGR3 and GRAW 2 or Rainbow instead of GRAW 1). Just my two cents, but I would be interested in playing whatever.

No I don't agree. It isn't hard to mix and match all together. There's 4 people in a band (the same amount of people who could play Team Slayer together), so it's no different than Halo. Rock Band and GH would be just as easy to do.

I do agree that for the MVP night (Wednesdays), we should try to stick to more current games, but the Monday night "Play Date" games are just about GameTZers getting together and playing some common games. It seems that many more users have GRAW 1 and R6V1, so that's why I thought we could have 2 matches, one for those with 1 and those with 2, so as not to alienate the majority.

We can put it to a vote for the Play Dates:
6/9 Rock Band or Gears of War
6/30 GRAW1/2 or Guitar Hero III
Or, if you'd like, if you don't have those rhythm games (or just don't like rhythm games), you can play the alternatives (Gears and GRAW).
Thanks everyone for their input/support. I think this will be a lot of fun. Please keep up the suggestions. Also, taking suggestions for July's schedule. You may be asking why plan so far ahead, but I'd like GameTZers to have time to practice, learn, keep, or trade for the games we're playing. I know I don't have GH3, Rainbow Six, or Team Fortress; but they're games I may want to add. I also have GRAW 1 in my available list, but am thinking of moving to my collection instead to give it a try. | Cyco2oo4

Guitar Hero is a one-on-one game, isn't it? As for Rock Band, you got me there, because I forgot four people can play. | LiL_Ramsey

Yes, GH is 1v1, but you can play one person, then switch to play a different person, and so on. Since so many people (hopefully) will all be playing the same game, it should be easy to switch opponents whenever you're done...

Hi All,
There's something I tried that should help in our decisions regarding what games to play, and when, in the future. I've set up a survey on Bill's other website (Survery Central). You will need to register if you haven't already CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Once registered, please click the below link, rank the games in the order in which you like them/would like to play them. Then, qualify it as reasonable and say that it's good. Then, I believe I'll be able to get the data from it to help determine future MVP nights and Play Date nights.

Thanks for trying Survey Central. It does seem that you need 5 qualifying votes, and they have to be from members already there (who have already posted surveys themselves). This may not be the route to go. I'll let you guys know if the survery goes through or not.
There's a couple things we can try:
--I'll post the list of games below and everyone could just reply to this thread (although there wouldn't be any anonymity (if anyone cares about that)).
--You could PM me your ranking
--Bill suggested the following (I could add this to my personal forum instead of flooding NERV's): For something like that, I'd suggest just posting the question in the forums here. I know, there's no polling system here (shame). But, perhaps, you could rig it so that each game has it's own post. Then, have people vote on them using / ?
This last method wouldn't rank the games, but would let me know what games you want to play vs. what you don't. I personally would prefer a ranking, so we can have the best turnout each week.
Let me know what you guys think?
The list of games are below (please rank in the order in which you would most like to play to least like to play):
--Call of Duty 4
--Halo 3
--Burnout Paradise
--Gears of War
--Rock Band
--Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1
--Grand Theft Auto 4
--Rainbow Six Vegas 1
--Forza Motorsport 2
--Guitar Hero 3
--Team Fortress 2 (Orange Box)
--Project Gotham Racing 3
--Rainbow Six Vegas 2
--Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
