Yeah, it gets its own topic, because its sweet.

Seriously though, as much as I love this game, I am terrible at it. I'm fighting Genshin, and I can beat him, but not without using like all my healing herbs and a resurrection scroll, so I keep quitting because I feel like I shouldn't be wasting all that stuff on the second boss. To make matters worse, I'm only playing on Acolyte difficulty. Whats the deal? Does he have some sort of pattern that I'm missing or something.

I remember in the original NG for Xbox, the gameplay was alot of blocking, and then counterattacking. Judging from the demo, though, it seems that NG2 isn't like that. I found myself quickly ripping through enemies, barely blocking at all, and getting 60-80+ hit combos.

Maybe for the bosses, though, blocking is more required. I dunno, all I know is that I want the game!

I still block a lot, especially when I'm surrounded. It seems like there is more focus on offense in this one though since your health regenerates a bit after fights.

I ordered this game but I had it shipped home, so I can't play it until i'm done with school. I played the demo though and it was pretty damn fun.

Yeah, now you feel my Rock Band pain Nick! I own hard at this game. I'm not at the second boss yet but it comes down to doing the block roll thing to give yourself room, a lot. And try to use jumping attacks as (or so it seems) they are less likely to be blocked. I'll have more specific info when i get to Genshin.

Yeah dude, I'm all about jump attacks, but this Genshin dude won't have it. The second you jump he's in the air to knock you back down.

I just beat it, I still ended up using a few of my herbs, but I managed to keep my res scroll.

I tore through the demo with 0 effort. Is the retail version just like it? Or is the demo toned down for the masses?

The actual game is harder, as long as you dont play on the easiest difficulty, which is what the demo forces you to do. So far Id say its about its slightly easier than the first because of the health regeneration.

They handled the health regeneration quite well though, making it so it doesn't regen all the way if you are really getting your ass kicked in a fight. Keeps the difficulty level kind of high.

True but relatively speaking its easier since there wasnt any regen at all in the first one.

But still, the max amount of healing herbs and grains you can carry is three. In the first one, you could carry nine of each kind of healing elixir.

We're going to end up going in circles since this is a subjective thing...but...you dot need 9 of each when your health regenerates, plus you can completely refill it at each save point which there seems to be way more of.

You can only heal once at each save point.

And no dur you don't need as many healing items because there are more other opportunities to heal... that's why it balances out.

The bottom line is that the healing system/abundance of items/difficulty of enemies all tie in together really well.

This game isn't as difficult as the 1st one, but it's still really challenging. Overall, they did some great improvements on the 1st one. However, that fudging camera still drives me nuts. I wish they would have done something similar to camera system in God of War. It's like a 1/2 fixed 1/2 following camera. That's really my only complaint. The combo system is done beautifully, graphics look amazing, and overall the game is just easier and more fun to play.

I keep getting text messages from a friend about this game all day long. All I keep hearing is "the camera fudging suck!", "you can't counter a grab, what type of crap is that?" and numerous other "they cheese" like comments. Is it really that 'meh'? Should I not bother even renting this for a while? I still haven't played the first, but playing anything last gen is so damn hard when you have the three next gen ones sitting on the shelf, especially without ever touching two of them. Suggestions?

Well, for one, he's better at games than me, and yet he's having a tough time at parts. And two, he'll dog about a game and how much the A.I. cheeses, then when he beats it says how amazing it is/was. lol, so unless I wait a few weeks til he beats it, I have to ask my imaginary friends.

Are you talking about Rob? That sounds like something his dog ass would complain about. Just tell him "stop whining" or send him a picture of the baby.

The game is challenging, no doubt, but I don't really think its cheap.

You can't counter grabs, true, but when you get grabbed if you're quick enough you can jam on any button and get out of it pretty quickly before taking any damage.

Yeah, the camera does suck, but thats the only thing I'd knock it for.

Ninja Gaiden is one of those games that's hard because you suck, not because it's cheap.

Yeah *grin* Typically his messages are 3 word answers. Once he picked up DMC4, then NG2, that's all I've been hearing *raspberry*

I finished the game on warrior a few days ago. Continued probably 150 times (with an achievement for my lameness to boot!). I'd say 125 of those deaths were on bosses, most of which are pretty much tests of precision. Until you figure out the attack patterns, it will seem cheap...absolutely...because without perfect maneuvers you'll get annihilated in a couple of attacks. It's actually more of a throwback to the NES days. Tons of games were like this back then, but they just don't make 'em like that anymore, other than NG and a handful of others.

So yeah...it's brutally hard and frustrating, but I guess it's not really cheap, save for a handful of times you get instantly jumped as you're running around a corner.
