I have and love Burnout Paradise, but I'm looking for another racing game (laps rather than open world). I prefer the arcade-style racers that are more forgiving. I'd also like online play.

I was leaning towards Forza 2 or PGR4. Forza 2 is still played online heavily, but seems to have pretty unforgiving controls (I briefly tried demo).

Please advise. I'd prefer to get something that's been out a little while (but would also like any opinions on newer games such as Grid, compared to the games I mentioned above).

Thanks,
Rob

Well, you could always try Burnout Revenge, I believe that is tracks, not open world.

Forza 2 is definately not arcade style, its basically the 360's Gran Turismo, more of a simulation.

I haven't played PGR4, but PGR3 is one of my favorites, and it leans towards being more of an arcade type racer. You get style points and stuff for doing drifts, or drafting other cars.

Dirt is also really good. Its rally racing, and it has some of the best graphics I've seen, the car damage and stuff is pretty cool.

I tried the demo for Grid, but I didn't really like it. I think its made by the same people as Dirt, but the controls feel weird to me on Grid. Good graphics though.

Yeah, but it doesn't seem to fit the style of game he wants.

I have Forza 2 and PGR4 both, and they are both great.

I prefer Forza though.

While Forza 2 is unforgiving, it's really fun. (and does have an arcade option)

That is the question.

I may be able to give both a try. I can get Forza 2/Marvel Ultimate Alliance for around $13 shipped on eBay. And PGR4 goes for between $15 and 20. I think PGR4 would probably be the better one for me, but 2 games for $13 is sure worth a try (if I can win the bidding)

I'm not really a racing fan at all, but I enjoyed Forza 2.

You should buy that for Marvel Ultimate Alliance alone... awesome game. (and as I've stated in previous threads, Fora 2 is IMHO the best racing game ever)

That is the question.

I grew tired with Forza 2 fairly quickly although it's really great. My vote would be PGR4 although I sure had fun with NFS Most Wanted and have probably played that more than any other game this gen so far. Crazy, I know. But I dug it. *yes*

I loved Most Wanted...I didn't finish it because the last 3 guys's events all take so long that it wasn't worth it. I hate games that if you invest a lot of time and lose, you are no better off than when you started...it feels like a waste of time

Yeah, I had to use that glitch where you can hide under some awning. The helicoptor just circles building up your wanted level and earning you money. Then you just need to back up a bit and they can't see you so you can end the pursuit. It sucked to have to do that but I don't know how anyone could fight through all of that to beat the game otherwise.

Anybody know which racers work with the MS racing wheel? I'm pretty sure Forza and the PGR's do what about the NFS's and Burnouts?

-- Burnout Paradise has really fun multiplayer but its easy to get lost
-- Flatout Ultimate Carnage has good mini games
-- I liked Dirt for it's realism, I tend to like rally racing more then regular racing
-- I got bored with Project Gotham 3 and 4.
-- Forza 2 is ok but I'm kinda worn out on it. I kinda wish it was more like Gran Turismo.

My two favorites are Need for Speed Carbon & Test Drive Unlimited. In the case of TD, there's just something restful about taking sports cars out to cruise around digitized Hawaii.

I loved forza 2, pretty damn challenging game. I also really liked PGR4, thought i've found it a little easier. I liked its different weather effects alot. Both are really really good games.

GRiD is by far one of the best looking and most fun racing games I've ever played. I went and bought it after playing the demo because for some reason I had an urge for it. I love DiRT alot and this is my street form of DiRT. Sooo I recommend those two and that's about it to be honest. I find simulation racers boring. Pretty and with an excellent selection of cars but super boring. GRiD only has like 45-ish cares, but there are plenty of races to keep you interested, imo
