My xbox live doesn't work very well (always kicks me for some reason), so i'm looking for an offline game with a lot of replayability, and that will keep me playing for a decent amount of time.
Just bought oblivion from CAG, and already have GTA4 and Saints Row. Any other good and time consuming single player experiences? Thanks guys! |

Crackdown is really awesome and takes awhile to beat/level up your character. Any sports game that you may like can also last pretty much forever if you start a franchise. Assassin's Creed & Bioshock are must plays too, IMO

I actually had crackdown and never finished it - my save got deleted and I was about 75% through with it, so i got pissed and sold it, lol. If I can find it on the cheap, I'll pick it up again. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Mass Effect will chew up some time if you explore the galaxy fully and try and complete every side quest.

Tr00f.
I've put over 90 hours into Oblivion, and I literally have only done like two or three quests for the main storyline. I've only closed one Oblivion gate the entire game. |

I've been meaning to start that up again but the first time out I seemed to keep getting my ass kicked

I'm kinda scared to start it. I have so many others to beat first I don't want to tie up all my time with it. Blue Dragon has been bad enough. 20 hours into it and only 2 achievments

As far as achievements go, Oblivion is pretty good.
Just going through the different factions you get like 10 pts everytime you rank up, and then 20 I think when you get the final rank. |

I'v said it before, but Oblivion is the best game I have ever played. Logged probably 120 hours total in the game (including Shivering Isles and Knights of Nine), and I'm not even finished. I really, really hope they have ESV.

Yep. I just wish the expansion would become free someday so I can get the other 250 achievement score form it.
I know I am cheap and it is probably worth the purchase. |

Well, I felt the same way, and ended up finding the GOTY edition on ps3 for cheap and didn't want to put the time back in to build up my character to go through the extra missions...
Bottom line: yeah, $30 is a bit of jump for some DLC!

It really is a lot of game though. Even Knights of the Nine was about 10 quests and you got some pretty sick armor for doing it, and that was only $10, I think.
If you love Oblivion, I'd say it's worth money. It's steep, but the amount of stuff inside the new zone really makes it worth it. It essentially is half a game, thus half the price.

just rent shivering isles or the GOTY version somewhere or buy it then sell it on amazon or trade it on goozex. You don't need the disc after you install it.

You sure about that one? I thought I read somewhere you couldn't do that. |

Is Oblivion like open world sandbox type game where you can go anywhere and do anything or is it like Fable where you basically go mission to mission? If that makes any sense. |

Definately open sandbox.
Like, the king of open sandbox style. |

If you've ever played WoW, the game is very similar, minus the online aspect. It's like playing WoW, on the console, by yourself.

I can't say for sure about the GOTY edition but I have the shivering isles expansion pack with the original oblivion and it works for it.
