Dubbed Serious Sam HD, the game will re-imagine The First Encounter, and be created by original developer Croteam.
The chaotic first-person shooter, where enemies spawn and overwhelm from every angle, will return with online co-op for four friends. The surreal Egyptian setting will be spread across 12 levels, and we're promised dazzling, revamped visuals.
The charm of Serious Sam, which first appeared on PC in 2001, forms around controlling the swarms of baddies that are triggered when collecting ammo or reaching a new areas. There are bulls that charge, headless baddies that blow-up, ranged attackers, skeletal horse monsters and enormous bosses.
Sam's arsenal is as over-the-top as the situation, but deciding what to use and what to kill while dodging and scrapping is another matter. It's brilliant. |
One of my favorite shooters on the Xbox and now it's in HD with 4 player co-op, I'm looking forward to this more than the Perfect Dark port.

Wow those GFX are kickass! This is one of the reasons I bought an xbox. They revamp awesome classics and make them much more enjoyable. This is kinda like what they did with Banjo kazooie/tooie, only the GFX got a huge revamp, while BK/BT only got a small revamp. Sweet. I'll probably have to try the demo before I buy this though.

No release date announced yet. 
I wish they had done this kind of an upgrade to Duke Nukem 3D. |

Not sure on the release date. GameFAQs has it listed as December 31, but a couple places were saying September 9 for $15

Damn, still no final release date but it definitely isn't going to be Sept. 9. Sam's twitter says first half of October.
I'll be ready, I already bought the MS Points last week.

So fill me in here... Serious Sam is basically Doom with better graphics but not really a plot or anything besides killing things? It's not like Painkiller is it? |

serious sam is running and gunning at its finest. You take on waves upon waves of enemies that just keep on coming. Its fun as hell, especially with coop. youtube some gameplay so you can get the gist of what its all about.

I don't know why it keeps getting pushed back, but now the release date is November 11.
Releasing an FPS just a day after Modern Warfare 2...not cool. |
