This is going down in 2 months and may be the greatest day of some of our lives. Let us discuss.
First, the new MP HD trailer:

Im pretty sure I saw a rapid fire pistol there... As for the thrown knives... blah just another way for me to die cheaply on this game.. I can see it now last stand and knives being thrown everywhere. That splatter effect did look awesome though.

that wasnt rapid fire why would the creators have on if they are patching it |
shady520
| | #5 posted September 2, 2009 at 12:51pm (EST) |
that wasn't a rapid fire controller and seemed like a single shot pistol just that the guy had a fast trigger finger or it was a semi-auto in burst mode. also the throwing knifes bit are taking up the grenade slot, now if you can pick them back up after you throw them or if they are infinite i don't know and that might be a problem with people just chucking knifes in a doorway the whole time. |

Because I'm sure the knives are instant kill and you have an infinite number of them. The one he threw in the video was definitely not a headshot like it stated in large letters. Come on now people. |
refloc
| | #7 posted September 2, 2009 at 8:23pm (EST) |
Has it been confirmed there is an infinite number of knives?
Also, I don't think that was a headshot symbol, I think it was for the Bullseye challenge you get for killing someone with a knife |

| | #8 posted September 2, 2009 at 10:11pm (EST) |
well i watched it again and it disappears after one use but there is no telling if you can walk over to the corpse and pick up the knife again. also screw the bit about the single shot pistol it obviously is an automatic. |
infecteddh
| | #9 posted September 2, 2009 at 10:16pm (EST) |
Automatic handguns my ass... There is a reason they use automatic rifles and not handguns in war, recoil... Why would a war game have automatic handguns in it? I think all this new crap on this game are going to make this game a cluster of a mess.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't automatic, he was just shooting very quickly. You can shoot your pistol that fast on Cod4 as well, it all depends on how fast you can pull the trigger.

Not more than the multiplayer, but I do love the SP quite a bit

Funny thing is I really like CoD4. And I have not touched Multi at all. Not even once (yet) to try it out. I was quite satisfied with the single player that I didn't feel like I needed to go play Multi to get more out of my game. I don't know... I just never had a care to play it multi. |

Yeah no kidding. I've put about 20-25 hours into SP and slightly over 200 hours into MP.
Multi is where the replay value is

You need to. I've always hated multiplayer games outside of local co-op. Before Halo 3 and more-so, Call of Duty 4, you would never have caught me playing multiplayer. CoD4 is the gateway drug to MP games.

Oh I have no doubt it's good. With how good it was in Single Player I'm sure multi is awesome. I just... well honestly haven't really cared to play it. Hell I don't even play Halo 3 multi as much as I did back in the days of Halo 2. I guess I just have so many games to play that multi usually isn't my thing. (Love the co-op games though). So although it is probably one of the better multiplayer games out there (alongside Halo 3) I just don't see myself putting the time in to level up and have as much fun. Though I think we willl be playing a lot of ODST Firefight mode with our friends. If we can set up times to play that everyone can agree on.... I AM looking forward to MW2 though. God I want to play that game bad. (Single and Co-op).
I also wish Ubi would get off it's ass and make another Rainbow Six game damnit! |

Amen, dude. A new Rainbow has been overdue since Vegas 2 basically went in the can a year afterward. It didn't have the staying power of Vegas.

I wonder if you will be able to hold the knife before throwing kind of like how people can cook grenades, and for how long. Also, I wonder if the knife will take up the grenade slot or the special grenade slot... either way, I doubt it will be infinite.
BTW, who here plays COD4 a lot? I would like to play online with some of you guys. My gamertag is are 2 the oh be. |

| | #33 posted September 10, 2009 at 11:14pm (EST) |
if you watch the video again you can see it takes up the primary grenade slot. it does seem like he holds it for a second before throwing it and the only way i see it being infinite is if you walk up and pick it up after you kill the guy like how guns drop. |

You couldn't pick up others' grenades in CoD4 so I'm doubting they've changed that in this one. Hell, I'm hoping they haven't...I can't imagine all of the grenades that will be thrown when you keep running over people that have the 3x frag perk.

i didn't mean necessarily that you would be picking there knifes up but maybe you could pick up your own (im sure this will not happen but it is just a "what if" tangent) like in real life if you threw a knife at someone and it killed them you would be able to walk up to that person and pull it back out and be on your way. |
robbie012
| | #38 posted September 11, 2009 at 4:52am (EST) |
I don't think they will allow you to pick up the knife... because I could see a lot of mistakes with people picking up the gun instead. Unless they designate a different button to pick up the knife, but still I doubt it. Perhaps they will have a 3X knife perk. I really hope the hit detection for throwing and swinging the knife is better than it is in CoD4. Also, I am hoping they make sniping better in MW2... 1-hit-kills for chest shots. |

Like a real man huh... you mean like most the Hardcore players that hide most of the match?
Some people say TDM hardcore is for real men, others say it is for people who like to camp (not while sniping) the whole match. Without a killcam, people like to hide in their dark corners, glitch spots, etc for the whole match (like mice, not men). I would rather not play a game where everyone is crawling the whole match because they are afraid to move and get into a gun fight and test their skill. Now I am not saying that people should run around aimlessly out in the open, but in Hardcore, I have seen matches where the game would end due to time, and the winning score would be like 150. Thats just not fun... win or lose.
But I will take your advise... I dont think I have played TDM Hardcore since I picked up sniping recently. Maybe Ill give it a try. Whats your gamertag? Maybe we can a match going (not 1v1). |
