Hey guys, I preordered the Modern Warfare 2 Elite bundle, but I had a couple questions about switching over to a new console.
1. The biggest thing I'm wondering about, is how to transfer everything from my Pro system over to the Elite. Is there a way that I could just link the two of them together to do it, or would I have to get one of the transfer kits?
2. Also, someone told me that I would probably have to re-download my downloads (add-ons, Live games, etc.) onto the new system. Obviously, I wouldn't have to pay for them, but is this true? Or can I just transfer that stuff?
2A. I'll also have to re-download my gamertag to the new system, correct?
3. My current Pro system is one that doesn't have an HDMI port, I've just been using the green/blue/red cords that came with it. What kind of HD cables does the 360 require? Can use just use any, like the PS3? Or does it have to something specific? Also, if anyone has any information about where to get a good deal on one (either online or in-store), I would very much appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out! I figure I'd better ask now, so that way I'm not wasting any time when I get the Elite...espeically since I already have a buyer for my current system.

1. No you wont get a transfer kit. You shouldn't anyway. I'm fairly certain you had to request one from Microsoft. Not sure if that offer is still around. I'd call 1-800-4MYXBOX to just check and see.
2. Yes and no. Everything will be transferred over but I personally had to redownload a few titles again for the licenses. Easy enough on Xbox.com just go to your account history and just keep adding to queue. Took me about 30 minutes to add something like 20 pages worth of downloads. Just did them all just to be sure the licenses were all on my new HDD. You will also have to perform a license transfer on Xbox.com and I believe you will need both SN for the two consoles. Just make a note of the old one before you send it off to your buyer.
3. HDMI is all you need for HD. There are other options like Component but HDMI I believe is at least a little better than Component and 1 cable is always easier. HDMI cables are cheap as hell. Check Monoprice.com for >$5 shipped for a 6ft cable. They even have different colors options too so you could get a blue one if you so choose :D Too bad you didn't get in on the $1.37 for 2 deal just recently. I'll have to wait 2 weeks but 2 6ft cables for $1.37 is awesome.

I just upgraded to an elite, and need to do that too
I'll have any extra HDMI cable from that deal, and I have a transfer kit on the way. If you need to borrow it you can, just pay shipping and add a dollar if you want the hdmi. Just let me know. |

It's a regular MS one. Not for PC, just console transfer. |

I see 4 in the first 5 pages that are real and one of those being sold with a 120GB HDD...all of the others are incomplete kits/fake.

I'd just be cautious...save games/profile is the most important. DLC/XBLA can always be redownloaded.

Not that I don't trust Outinthedark's answers...is everything he said correct? Has anyone else done anything differently? I just want to learn as much as I can about this now, so I'm not wasting time when I get the new system.

I didn't have to redownload anything, and it was really easy to transfer all license's on xbox.com. |

1) You could just open the hdd enclosure, connect the hdd to your pc via a sata connection, and use Xplorer 360 to dump your drive onto your PC. Then, do the reverse to load it onto your new drive. Saves buying any sort of transfer kit.
2) If I remember from doing the above with my 20 to 120, I didn't have to recover the tag, since it was already on there. Nor the files
3) Any HDMI will work, monoprice.com Or use the component cables you already have, but might as well use HDMI, they're cheap

Well since you asked that...I'd say keep searching for a transfer kit

It's just a data connection. A cable to connect the HDD to your motherboard. Nothing fancy. If you can plug in a TV you can hook up a HDD. :D
