Took the initiative and here it is...
This is the place to talk about hong kong kung-fu flicks or japanese horror or any asian movie.
Seen something that we need to discover? Wondering if someone as seen Riki-oh? this is the place. So lets hear it and give us your thought on what you've seen recently or what your planning to see.

heh, I was just about to come here and make this topic but you got it under control * raspberry *

I picked up the US version of Grudge to watch today so I can compare. It looks like some decent names were involved in the making of it. Unfortunately, the only other Japanese horror they have is Infection, and it just came out on the 17th so I can't get it until 6/17(gotta wait 1 month after release to get it for free).

I have yet to see Kung Fu Hustle. I decided with the combination of me being broke and it being dubbed in theatres, I would wait until the dvd when I can see it subbed. Now hopefully I can get it at the rentals.

I've never even heard of the Returner.

Grudge US is gonna have to wait until tomorrow. I thought I would have enough time to watch 2 movies today, but only got through the first one and ran short on time due to other things going on. I did watch Crimson River: Angels of the Apocolypse. It's a French movie with Jean Reno(you know he rocks you). While the dvd says Crimson River tho, the subtitles said "Crimson River II" so I'm not real certain on it. It was ok tho not Reno's best film. That probably goes to Wasabi(great movie where he goes to Japan).

I haven't seen many French movies at all, I just like Jean Reno movies so I try and look for them. Unfortunately, I've only seen the dub of Wasabi, I really need to buy the dvd sometime so I can see the sub(assuming the dvd has the option on it, but they usually do). The girl that plays his daughter is a hot Japanese chick.

I saw it one night in the animation category of Atom FIlms on Comcast on demand. Its a 10 minute short, the visuals and the music are out there.

I can't seem to find it anywhere. Since I first saw it. Took me forever just to find some screens of it.

Watched the US Grudge today, I was surprised, it's pretty decent. I don't like it quite as much as the Japanese version and there were some small changes here and there. For the most part tho it actually stayed close. They threw in some Americans working in Japan for some roles(as opposed to the Japanese one had only Japanese workers).

Watched small parts of that new Devilman live action movie last night, man... this looks awesome... Im really pissed since I can't find subtitle files for this, ( all I found was some oddball unknown language ) and I dont want to listen to it in japanese without subs.I guess I'Il be patient till I find some english subs, but damn I can't wait to see and understand it...

I forgot I saw a live action of City Hunter starring Jackie Chan. City Hunter is great, although I didn't think this live action was as funny as the anime was. It's been so long since I've seen it I really don't remember the details, plus it was a dub so already took a hit for that.

Looks like it's from 1993, here's some info on it.
I believe there was at least 1 or 2 anime City Hunter movies as well, but I couldn't really say for sure now.

Like Jet Li, Jackie Chan's older stuff is better as well(although I think Jet Li's older movies are excellent, while Jackie Chan's were just good). Although some of Jackie Chan's US stuff is ok. His later stuff isn't too hot at all like Tuxedo and Medallion. Around the World in 80 Days I did find entertaining tho(but then the Arnold cameo was pretty damn funny too in that).

I don't have any either, just rentals.

I might be able to get an ex-rental for cheap. They're $10ea but there's a 50% off sale coming up soon, catch is you gotta buy 4 movies to take advantage of it(it's actually buy 2, get 2 free).

I love the old Jet li movies, like Fong sai yuk 1&2, new legent of shaolin and Tai-chi master.
Im not really impressed with what he's doing now...
Jackie's best ones are probably the Drunken Masters ( both ), classic!!! I did enjoy Rumble in the Bronx but the rest of is american movies are just decent... nothing really spectacular.

He is a great stuntman. But I like more to a movie then fancy stunts. Medallion is one that comes to mind with over-the-top stunts but the movie was only mediocre. I just enjoy depth in a movie tho, if it's too simple I end up getting bored.

I have to agree, great stunts don't make a great movie. But they do make a great JC movie.
I have to say, the reason most of my DVDs are JC movies isn't because they are the best movies out there(although I think they are great),it's because after seeing most of them on VHS I had to get them on DVD so I could watch some of the stunts frame by frame. Some of the stuff in his older movies was insane. The style of his fight scenes is also cool and original.

Have you ever played Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu for TG16? I consider it one of Hundson's best games ever. It's a cartoony action platformer made in Hudson's prime when they released quality titles(unlike today). Even if you don't have a TG16, there's alternatives since it's a hucard...*cough*roms*cough* * wink *

I bought it off ebay for the PCengine. Then I had to figure out how to mod an extra TG16 I had so I could play it,then I had to mod a NES controller to use with the TG16 because the only NEC controller I had was for my Duo.After all that I played it to find out it was the same game I have for the NES * wry smile * It seems like an ok game but to be honest , I spent more time doing those mods then playing the game.
