So, how is vegetarianism treating you, Q? |

I haven't actually engaged in veggie mode yet. I have upped my nut, oat, wheat and sprout intake.
Red meat is completely out. I'm still eating turkey and chicken for now.

Why have you decided to go Veggie?
What are your feelings of such characters as Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, and Jr. Asaparagus?

Earlier this month on a whim I decided I'd give it a try. Being a heavy meat eater, I realized how sluggish and bogged down I felt after eating lots of meat.
I'm attempting to go veggie as a lifestyle and health choice. This has very little to do with my personal ideaology regarding animals.
I'll officially start after the 4th of july weekend and will be sure to chronicle how it goes here in my forum.

How much meat do you usually eat? Or do you just mean a normal portion or something?

Meat is a staple of my diet, I eat it atleast once daily. Mostly deli meat, burgers, chicken and such.

Just make sure you still keep your protein high or else you will have REALLY bad breath and your hair will start falling out. Chicken is alright to eat...you should just quit eating red meat

As it stands I don't eat red meat. I'm aware of my need for protien and would heavily suppliment my diet with enough non-meat protein.
P.s. my breath already stinks.

Today is my last day of beef. Over the next two weeks I'll phase out chicken.
I've decided that I'll still eat fish and cheese, so I'll have plenty of protien from that.
I wonder how long I can keep this up.

I'm a vegan myself, the only thing that's difficult for me is finding decent food around here (I live in Montgomery, AL). I've been vegetarian since July 2003, vegan since sometime after that. Good luck to you, Qpalzm. |

Do you feel like you have more energy? I'm mainly changing my eating habits becuase my my body feels bogged down on my old diet.
Have any advice of some awesome veggie goodness? For example, which veggie burger patties are the good ones? I've had morning star and don't care much for them.

Try the Boca Italian sausages. They are really yum. GardenBurger riblets are tasty as well. |

I'm lazy, so no, I don't feel like I have more energy. I do feel better about myself, which is important to me. One good thing about a vegan diet is no worrying about cholesterol, unless yours is just high anyway.

I think Gardenburger makes the best ones, they make several varieties of patties, plus tons of other goodies. The Boca vegan patties are also yummy. Boca also has lots of different patties to choose from. |

I would also suggest trying to drink a crapload of water. I usually end up drinking around 12 cups by the time work is done and I'm pretty alert by the time I want to goto bed.

I drink alot of water. It's 9:24 and I'm already on glass number three.
Anyway, this weekend I'll go about purchasing a bunch of veggie products and will report on how I like them.

It's a great way to force yourself to wake up in morning. Drink 10 glasses of water before bed and see how quick you jump up after your alarm goes off.

Water definitely gives you more energy. You should strive to drink a gallon a day and drink at least half a gallon. And drink distilled water. Water out of the tap has pesticide in it that can link to cancer. It isn't worth the risk. If you get access to your water report, notice how cleverly they mask the fact that their water is not 100% safe to drink.
Boca does make some great products...I love veggie burgers.

The local water for me is very horrible quality, I've heard it's some of the worst in the state.
I still drink it tho, buying water all the time gets costly
How well do filters work? I've thought about getting a unit for the incoming household water.

I've got one on my tap. Before using it, I swore up and down, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but you can. Only downside if you need to replace the filter every once in a while.
