lol, did you just stumble across a picture of Sanshiro and feel the urge to start this thread?
The Saturn was much like the TG16 in both style of games and localization (as in poor US localization but tons of fantastic Japanese games).

. Segata wills it!
I got the idea when I was playing the Saturn the other night... I put in the 2nd disc of Falcom Collection and one of the "bonus" items was a advertisement about the Falcom store. Some woman comes up on the screen, the field music from Y's I starts playing and she starts whoring out Y's merchandise. Games, statues, a wall of soundtracks(!). I couldn't understand a word she was saying, but I was impressed.
And I thought, wow, wouldn't it be interesting to make a topic for weird stuff like this. I know that sounds pretty mundane, but it seemed pretty impressive at the time!

Rent-a-Hero No.1 for DC or Xbox. He's your sensei in this game, learning the moves and combos from the man himself.

My DC, it has a boot disc!

DC version came out only in japan, like the Xbox version. But yeah, the english release on Xbox was canned weeks before it was comming out, it was fully translated. Thank GOD someone leaked this on the internez.

I still have the original one for DC, and overall It looks better than the Xbox version. But yeah playing it in english makes it more enjoyable I guess.

Random observations:
I've been playing Burning Rangers (thanks Forgotten_Freshness!) and it's better than I remember.
Ultraman for Saturn is one of the worst games ever and it needs its own ROM cart. Why is Ultraman shooting lasers from his crotch?
Three Dirty Dwarves is actually a pretty good game.
Wouldn't you like to work here?
I expect Golden Axe characters to come out of the building now, like in the intro to Segagaga.

I never played Burning Rangers, I wish I had, I somehow missed it. I do enjoy some of the music though, I have some Sonic Team music discs with the vocal tracks from the game, good stuff.
Three Dirty Dwarves seems like a good time too but nothing that's must play. I feel less bad that I missed that one.
And no, I wouldn't want to work at Sega. I doubt it's much fun to work at Sega US anyway, they have a pretty bad relationship with Sega Japan. I'm sure that doesn't make your job any easier. Sega isn't particularly known for stellar titles anymore either.

Yeah, Sega is pretty damn dead in gaming nowadays. But working there and moving crates of arcade machines would probably just be like playing Pengo!.
No... I guess not. I think I'm going to cry now.

Saturn Impressions!
Puzzle and Action (Sega Ages) - Wow, this game is like the inspiration for Wario Ware! It's only one player and gets kind of boring after a while but it has a real cool early 90's arcade feel to it and lots of stereotypes.
Clockwerx - this pretty much blows (the idea's fine, though). The controller is all wrong for this sort of game and it gets tedious real fast. Pretty poor production BUT it has the MOST AMAZING opening video I've ever seen. Really.
Neon Genesis Evangelion Illustration Disc- Lots of images and some movies. If I spent $50 on this I'd feel ripped off, but it's worth at least $5 for the pictures & music
Outrun (Sega Ages) - This is a great version of Outrun, and it works with the 3D controller. Play it with the remixed Splash Wave for the pure Outrun experience.

I really liked Saturn Bomberman and Panzer Dragoon Saga, I miss those. Especially Saturn Bomberman, I'm not a huge Bomberman fan but that game had an amazing 1-player mode. I get very bored with multiplayer Bomberman which is what most of the games are good for. Hell, XBLA Bomberman is only multiplayer. Saturn Bomberman had a fantastic mix of levels and music with some good anime cut scenes (which were more rare at the time than today).

I've never played Panzer Saga, what's that like?
I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes Bomberman single-player.
Saturn seemed to have a lot of good games with stylish cut scenes. I'm not sure if it was ahead of it's time (in that aspect) or what, though. Saturn had loads of imports like that.

PDS, from what I remember, it's kind of like Panzer Dragoon but with turn based battles. You could move your dragon around the enemy (front, back, left, or right) to avoid attacks or critical attacks. There may have been more to it, it's been so long since I've played it I don't remember. It was a bit more then just standard turn-based stuff. Graphically, it's similar to Skies of Arcadia. I remember screenshots before Arcadia was out were compared to PDS.
I just like the Panzer Dragoon world and story too. The Xbox one is probably my favorite shooter PD game though, it just looked so damn good.

Holy crap, did anyone pay attention to the Microsoft E3 conference yesterday?
1) Project Natal. WTF. You might as well call it "Project Feces"
2)
3) That promo video is 10x more insulting and obnoxious than any Sony ad ever. Check out these mindblowing comments on the Youtube video:
when the creative minds of the world understand the system and its capabilities...then we will see exactly what Natal will mean in home entertainment. It could be as revolutionary as the microwave or TIVO.
Talk about killing the competition.
nintendo must be kicking themselves in the fudging balls for not thinking of this first.

Yeah, I checked out the conference last night after 1 vs 100. Natal could be ok...maybe...I'm really not sure what to think.
I guess everyone wants motion control now. Sony just wrapped up their conference that featured a new wand thing as well. I have yet to see Nintendo's, although, if anything, it's just more Motion-Plus.
It's all motion and plastic fake toys and crap. Instruments, skateboards, motion cameras, motion wands. It's all fudgein' retarded but the gaming industry is bigger then it's ever been. Guess you can just take your Dreamcast back to the corner and stfu!
At least that's what I'm doing...if I still had my Dreamcast.

Eh, it just seems like another obtuse control scheme. What passes as the Wii's motion sensing hardly seems natural to me, it's been a crutch for a lot of poor games. If these companies were serious about the technology, they would produce something approximating real motion capture setups. But why would they do that when a controller is much more tactile? I'm not so sure about Wii being the future of retail gaming and all, though. But I thought the same thing when I started seeing games like Pop n' Music and (later) Guitar Hero... this is the future of gaming? WTF? It sells though.

I personally took Natal away from the show as being one of the few things that had a legitimate chance to be something when it finally hit home. Sony's black dildo with the LED on top was clumsy at best and unfinished at worst. And Nintendo's life support gadget... Well, they GENERALLY don't make stuff that sucks (ignoring Virtual Boy for a moment) so maybe it'll end up being used for Rez 2 or something. Maybe.
Out of all the devices, Natal was the only one that was demonstrated in a way that you could look at it and say "Yeah, that's pretty solid." |

I'm having a hard time figuring out if Natal is total hokum or something worthwhile. I guess if it even comes out to being half of what it's advertised, it'll be pretty interesting. I don't have much faith in the camera technology right now.
I'm looking forward to the new Mario game. Sony has some cool looking games that I probably won't buy. New SNK games, though.

That demo Lionhead Studios did with Natal with the little boy reminds me a lot of ressentiment (a manga) where the otaku's enter a virtual world dating young ladies. The book particularly focuses on a 30-something year old male who still lives at home and enters this virtual world lusting after a 15 year old girl. This is the world we are almost in.
Isn't is glorius?....maybe not...lol
The manga is very good though for a dark look at otaku lifestyles.
