I had a gamegear and a ton of games for it lol, I miss that system. Other than the GB that was my second fav handheld of all time. |

| | #3 posted April 15, 2009 at 12:46am (EST) |
I never got into the old Sega systems, Master System or Game Gear. I tried out a GG on several occassions, even found a rediculously cheap one back when you could buy games in stores. I never had more then 5 games for it before just giving up on it. I played my GB a lot more (Final Fantasy Adventure! Link's Awakening!).
My current favorite handheld is the PSP, mostly for it's portable emulation and tv output.
Turbo Express was cool but the low screen resolution made reading passwords pretty much impossible.
N-Gage was awesome...as a phone. Great S60 platform with a gaming design. The N-Gage games were ok but you could also play all the S60 games plus multimedia. I loved that phone. The taco-talkin' version was my favorite one too, the later version they put out wasn't nearly as much fun.

I agree that this is quite possibly the best system ever. 95% of the games on it are great!

which I did. I couldnt read the title screen so I put the game back in its case and dug it down deep into my draw never to be witnessed again. Sad really. With the title Faselei! I thought it would have a lot of potential

Due to a lack of games, I'd say it's far from being the best system ever. The games that were on it were good though. It's a solid platform to pick up because of that. After a couple months, you've probably done it all on that thing though.

I still play that game and I've beat it with every character 6 ways to Sunday.
NGPC rules!

Yeah, NGPC is the jesus of handheld gaming. And Faselei! IS great if you have the UK version (bwa ha ha!) but it gets insanely difficult towards the end. Cardfighter's Clash takes the cake, though... that game alone propels the NGPC into the top tier of handhelds.
I always wanted to snag a Zodiac... only partly for the games, though. It was a decent little machine with lots of neat stuff.

What's up with the media hate towards the DS?
 |
lordkaosu

| | #14 posted April 25, 2009 at 7:28pm (EST) |
I wouldn't say it's a hate towards the DS, it looks like it's just trying to draw conclustion to why these M-rated games aren't selling. Poorly written article as well.

I need to find a picture of the guy that made that list...

That list is pretty screwed up. I wouldn't even put Space Invaders in the top 25 of anything. Except steamy turds. And the first Final Fantasy at #4?! Reeeeeaaallly? Have people actually played it?
EDIT: Putting Space Harrier 3D on that list is mega-bizarro. But then again, it is GamePro.

I miss the days where gamepro was the biggest, fattest and bestest gaming magazine this side of EGM... those days are gone. |
Captain

| | #22 posted June 19, 2009 at 4:05pm (EST) |
What? GamePro reviewed their games with exploding heads, anti-Sega bias, and incredibly ugly covers.
GameFan was where it was at.
 |
lordkaosu

| | #23 posted June 19, 2009 at 4:18pm (EST) |
I don't think I ever read a GameFan. Gamepro was always pretty bad, it just got worse towards the end. I used to enjoy the old EGM's and Turbo Play when it was around (which wasn't long). I don't know if I just grew out of magazines, but it's been a long time since I really enjoyed one. Even the gaming blogs are pretty crappy (Kotaku especially, they were ok several years ago, it's filled with a lot of drivel now).

Here's something of a mini-confession for me... almost all the games I really, really took to heart were Nintendo games: Zelda OOT, Kirby's Adventure, the first few Pokemon games. But I never ever got into the Super Nintendo even though I know there are good games on it.
I'd suppose I'd be all over the Turbo if they were more available. I have a list of great games in my head that I would buy in a heartbeat if only they hadn't been import only. I guess that's one reason why I like the Genesis. It really is the ultimate cheapskate's console.

Uh, besides Shining Force, lol... that's kinda rare... but it's a great game! I like the idea of a classic like Sonic 3 being available at any rinky-dink flea market for less than $5.

I had fun with a few Genesis games. TG16 was my first console and I always liked it better then NES. Then again, I bought it around 92 or 93 because it was on sale at TRU. It was cheaper then both SNES (what I would've liked) and Genesis. Unfortunately all the best stuff for it was a fortune and I never got until years later off ebay and I was old enough to work. I couldn't really get much for myself before I had a job.
Shining Force games were ok but I was never huge into strategy. The Phantasy Star games are good but I liked a lot of the SNES RPG's a lot more. Damn near anything Square was doing at the time was good and Enix had a nice mix of games (Brainlord was pretty fun, and there was another RPG they had where you built robots).

Here's an article that really sucks: "Worst Videogame Box Covers". You know why it sucks? They put Crazy taxi on that list. These jokers are comparing it to stuff like Shatterhand and Irritating Stick. CRAZY TAXI!
I mean, seriously. This is a funny and competently drawn illustration. Judge it against any crapty-CGI inspired Wii cover on artistic merit and this will come out like the Mona Lisa is comparison. THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF DAMMIT.

andrewp
| | #40 posted September 13, 2009 at 10:22am (EST) |
Seems most Nintendo Wii or DS game covers are just plain lazy anymore. I agrees, Crazy Taxi is pure art.
I think new games should go classic in artwork though, like...
Instead of all that 3D nonsense, we know it is beautiful 3D, but make the covers classie
