German comany Telefunken has a neat logo. Sometimes logos have to be chunky:
The NASA logo is the granddaddy of all logos:
On the other hand, these logos came out of the 50s and 60s and they're wrist-slittingly ugly. These were done by Saul Bass.
Not a logo per se, but a lot of artists in the 30s-40s used interesting shading effects, like the rings around the Warner Brothers logo.
Saul Bass redesigned the ultra-distinctive WB shield into stylized poo:
This is the IBEW logo, very cool. Unions usually have pretty cool logos.

LoL, I knew that one was coming.
This is an old one. There's another variation of this guy that used to be common in the old days (pre-1920's). A local building has a picture of it so I might take a picture of it one of these days. Google images is pretty useless, there seems to be a cottage industry of crapty big-nose single panel comics out there.
Some Amperex vacuum tubes have this goofy little cartoon on them. A mascot can make things look good:

When I was a kid, I used to think that was a fat octopus. That's still the first thing I see when I look at it now.
