i've converted to this way of thinking. timrek is actually on 2 of my islands and we both contribute pretty regularly. one of the reasons i asked him to join the alliance. my main city Centralia and wine city Oenos are not doing too hot. people just dont contribute and there shall be hell to pay come later this week. ultimatum will be sent out soon one by one...

I've been sending it out for the past week. 2-3 people have actually started contributing because of it. Which reminds me, we have any extra diplomacy points? I can get a few of my islanders to join alliance who actually donate |

hold one for me, if I'm not too far off - should have level 3 later tonight. . .

Alright, last question. . . for a few minutes, at least. Anyway, what do I click to request to join the GTZ alliance? The menu options are in German.

I suppose if I colonize again, I could move near you all in the 79s, then eventually move my whole operation. Thing is, its probably more important to consider strategy for the Alliance - are we looking to spread out all over, or take off from one area?

Man, wine makes this so much easier. Too bad everyone on my wine island is a little whore when it comes to upgrading the resources. |

dwf - well i feel like i expanded incorrectly. i may make better sense to spread out a decent length in like the shape of a diamond or square just so that you have good access to other trade ports and each of your cities. overall i think its better to establish your central 4 and then worry about forming up strategically.
RaRa - my wine island is the exact same way. messaged everyone one of them the other day and since then the vineyard has been leveled up again. we'll see how long it lasts. still have out donated the next highest player by double the amount.

I just finished researching glass. It isn't as great as it seemed before finishing (much like a few others). You don't just spend glass to chip away at the current research. It's all or nothing, and it's very expensive. I suppose it could be good to knock the last couple hours off though.

so basically whatever research points are left is the amount of crystal you need or what kind of ratio is it?

| | #13 posted May 15, 2008 at 4:45pm (EDT) |
It's more than one for one. I'm researching Mechanical Pen right now. I have 62/21,000 research points, and it would cost me 31,337 crystal glass to finish it right now.

How many total scientiests do you have mental? I'm up to 225 and working pretty heavily on raising it now that I have crystal coming in. |

| | #16 posted May 15, 2008 at 7:08pm (EDT) |
211 I think. I'll have 222 tomorrow I think. I'm not 100% sure on their current efficiency since my governor's residences as all level two (one is currently expanding to three).

I've got an extra 750 crystal right now if anyone wants it? I just need lots of wood. I was going to use it to upgrade to bronze shields, but the boards say that doesn't work, yet. . .

Gone for the next several days. No contact. No full sentences. Lots of drinking. Give hell them. Best of luck. |

anyone here have trade alliance yet? Can you set up automatic trades between your own colonies?
 |
brian9824
| | #20 posted May 17, 2008 at 11:52pm (EDT) |
I have a few trade alliances. Basically all it does is if they list something on market for 10 gold and you are set to buy it at 10 gold it automatically gets sold to you.
It's useful since i have 3 people i buy wood from at a constant basis. |
dragonwarriorfan
| | #21 posted May 18, 2008 at 12:16am (EDT) |
Can you do that with your own colonies so you don't have to sent materials so often?
 |
brian9824
| | #22 posted May 18, 2008 at 12:24am (EDT) |
No, too many factors to automate such as action points, available ships, storage space etc. It wouldnt be possible to automatically transfer resources |

Going to see about getting a few of my island mates to join our alliance |

Okay, I'm back. Didn't even have time to decrease the number of workers I had out there or store crap in my trading post. Ah well. |
mentalpowers

| | #25 posted May 19, 2008 at 5:00pm (EDT) |
Storing stuff in your trading post doesn't actually give you an increased amount of storage space (I think) or protect it from pillaging (I know).
 |
RaRaRasputin
| | #26 posted May 20, 2008 at 12:57am (EDT) |
Yeah, I've never tested it, so I dunno about the former there either. Probably doesn't - if it did, that sort of stuff would likely show up a lot when doing trade searches. |

I wish the upgrades in the workshop worked - I'm up to silver equipment for my phalanx now. I'll def have a few surprises in store for anyone who attacks me next time. . .

I'm working on upgrading my barracks and town halls to increase cash flow. My goal is to have Gunmen by the end of the week.
Using helping hands on crystal and marble since i never have enough of that.
Beefed up my military a bit. Have 15ish phalanax and 20-30 swordsmen on defense in each town and i'm still pulling in about 3300 an hour. Want to try to build that back up to 4k an hour by tomorow. |
mentalpowers

| | #29 posted May 20, 2008 at 9:35am (EDT) |
I've now overloaded all my resources. I'm down to netting 200ish gold per hour.
Glass is actually a pretty decent upgrade. I've been able to buy off the last several hours of a couple research topics already.

Yeah ditto mental, on glass, i usually knock off last 12-24 hours of research.
Honestly overloading wine and sulfur is a waste though. I can buy it cheaper and have no need of large stockpiles. Its sold abundantly by me. Don't know how it is by you but actually look at how much you are losing an hour in gold to make an extra 10 wine an hour |
mentalpowers

| | #31 posted May 20, 2008 at 10:21am (EDT) |
I'll check on the wine. I'm not overloading on sulfur because I already have an excess of several thousand. The problem I'm having is that nobody is buying the sulfur.
 |
mentalpowers

| | #32 posted May 20, 2008 at 10:24am (EDT) |
I just checked how much overloading was costing me for wine. It was essentially 28g per wine. I'll switch to buying that whenever it's less than that price. Marble and crystal glass, however, almost always go for far more than that, so overloading is definitely worth it.
 |
brian9824
| | #33 posted May 20, 2008 at 11:10am (EDT) |
Yeah which is exactly what i'm doing. I've been able to sell a decent amount of sulfur for 25-30g. Sold 2000 last night at 28 gold each which got rid of my overflow.
For marble and crystal its fine because you use it so much but for the others its not worth the effort. |
mentalpowers

| | #34 posted May 20, 2008 at 11:21am (EDT) |
Around me, sulfur usually goes for less than 25g, while crystal and marble go for over 30g. I can sometimes find wine for very little, but not always.
I'm trying to find a guy's town that has sold marble at 20g per, but I've been unable to locate it. I'd love to get a trade agreement with him for marble.

The fudge? I tried to send some of my troops from Darvall to my colonies, and now it's saying that I'm attacking myself. Don't think that's ever happened before... |

Must be a glitch, I have my own troops on the way to attacking one of my towns as of this morning - only I never deployed any nor would attack myself. . .

I think I could spare a 1000 - take a while to get there. What's your name on Ikariam? Despite my mine, I'm super short on marble, can you spare any for trade?
