Sony and Factor 5's 2007 PlayStation 3 exclusive Lair was met by more than just a few whines when it debuted, most of which stemmed from the game's control scheme. Fortunately, the devs have come to grips with the criticisms and decided to give the fans what they want.

Spotted in Japan's official PlayStation site is the announcement of an update that will expand Lair's controls to exciting new lengths. The PSN patch will give the game analog control support plus rumble compatibility for use with the DualShock 3 as announced earlier in GDC 2008.

Other additional downloads will also be made available, including one that will enable players to use the Wind Dragon and the Poison Dragon throughout the game. The goodies will hit Japan's PSN on the 17th, and perhaps the rest of the world shortly after.

This was announced months ago, but it's about time that we have a date for release. I picked up this game and have been waiting months for this frigging update. The game is horrible with it's standard controls.

Avro will most likely be dissapointed since the game was so astounding with its regular motion controls.

I played Lair and the only ackward controls is the aerial controls with the dragon. They arent that bad, just takes a little getting used to. If you are comfortable with wii motion then its almost the same. The game is nice outside that 1 bad contol problem though. Everything else is fine and there is some nice levels. Im already about 9 stages into the game. But ill probably Download this patch.

I've played it with the analog support, and it's definitely gone from "completely unplayable" to "This game is definitely fun for $30".

When in pursuit of a dragon you still have to shake the controller left to right to cut him off and smash into him. You also still use the sixasis to do a 180 degree turn. I think this works well since now you aren't trying to fly AND turn/crash into another dragon using just the motion controls.

And if you're wondering, it's $30 at GameCrazy ($24.99 used).

I was wondering about those features, like when you have to shake the controller up and down and stuff like that. I was wondering how that was gonna be. I still think with those left the same it really doesnt make it a problem.
