I haven't seriously computer shopped in several years so I'm behind the times on whats good nowadays. I've been upgrading to older stuff my job sells off for cheap for a while now but I really want to get a decent laptop. I'm mainly going to do internet stuff, word processing, spreadsheets etc but I also want to be able to output video to my hdtv and maybe use it as a DVR. Also maybe do a little video editing and lite gaming. It doesn't have to be top of the line or anything just something that will do me for a few years. Basically I'm looking for the most bang for the buck. Here are a couple I am considering. I want to stay at or below $500 if I can. Will these do what I want or if not what do I need? I really want a Macbook but can't afford one like I want so I'm kinda holding off on those for now.
Both of these have 4GB RAM and similar hard drive space, around 320 - 350 GB, and both have hdmi outs. Also similar screen size... 16" +/-/
This one seems like it has a lot but I think it has 32 bit windows 7, is that a big concern or should it be 64 bit? Also the graphics card is an nVidia GeForce 8200M-G and I heard its not that great even though its an nvidia. Plus I never heard of MIS before.

This one seems ok too but has an AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core instead of the intel core 2 duo, how do they compare? It has a ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card is that a decent one?

I owe it all to my inane ability to progress cognatious thunk
