Yeah, you do.
We all know DC had arguably the greatest lineup of fighting games... or one of the top three I'd say.
Tell of your favorites (and why, if you'd like)! Mine will come later. |

Oooo. Such a good question. I'm split. First the games that have since gone multiplatform but started on the Dreamcast:
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Capcom vs SNK 2
Marvel vs SNK 2
Dead or Alive 2
Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves
For the first three it comes down to just sheer choice. Most characters and most modes leads to massive amount of gameplay. Dead or Alive 2 was the first 3D fighter to give Soul Calibur a run for its money, and was fast and furious to play. Fatal Fury: MotW is just a great 2D fighter that never got its due. Awesome animation and a great fighting engine.
For the still system exclusives:
Soul Calibur
Last Blade 2: Heart of the Samurai
Project Justice
Soul Calibur speaks for itself. Last Blade 2 was an excellent sequel that never really got recognized. Like Fatal Fury: MotW it had great animation and style, and the battle system was deep. While some may argue Project Justice isn't all that great, it sure as hell is fun and there is a ton of gameplay in it.

I totally agree with all of those... My Last Blade 2 should be coming tomorrow! Can't wait for that. I have yet to play MoTW, but it just looks like a no brainer, even without playing it.
Capcom vs. Snk, DoA2 and SFA3 are undeniable classics, especially Alpha 3.
Ever played Tech Romancer? I'm getting it this week, but I've seen gameplay vids and it looks pretty damn good.
3rd Strike deserves a heads up, because it's another great game with a nice gameplay engine and smooth animation... Friends of mine and I played it for hours on end for some weekends. GGX is another monster of a game.
Project Justice was ok... Not exactly my cup of tea in the gameplay department, but it was ok overall. Good weekend rental.
Soul Calibur is Soul Calibur... and we all know what that means.
What I like about DC is the fact that many of the great fighting games started on it. There's this exclusive feeling I get when playing those particular games on the DC. |

I get that too. MvC2 is actually best on DC, like many fighting games. I have played Tech Romancer (own it) and it was ok for me. I'm not a big robot type person. 3rd Strike and to a lesser extent Double Impact are both great but pale in comparison to Alpha 3 for me. Also, I love Guilty Geat X. They could've still released the second X on DC. God knows SNK kept up King of Fighters through 2002.
Yeah all my Dreamcast games I own are listed on my collection there aren't many I haven't owned/played over the years.

Heh heh, I'm actually a mech fan myself, which is why I get alot of mileage on Virtual On, even without twinsticks. So Tech Romancer's up my alley.
MvC2, I've played that game to death years ago... everything about that game was just beautiful. A little too easy though, which is why I favor the real skill-based fighters over it. They don't need all that flash because they're alot more complex in the gameplay department, which is more satisfying.
What sucks is that they're not as popular... at least around my way. I think everyone who has a DC has MvC2, and that's it in terms of 2-D fighters. A shame...
SFA3 was probably the ONLY game I beat the crap out of on PSX, and when I played it on DC, it was like playing it for the first time again. I have to get that game back.
I'm now trying to get MoTW, a game that's hard to find for a good price and once I do find it, someone else has already taken it. Boo. |

Almost too many to list:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Marvel vs. Capcom
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Dead or Alive 2
Soul Calibur
Guilty Gear X (Import)
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
King of Fighters Evolution
King of Fighters Dream Match 1999
Between my DC and Saturn, I have so many arcade ported fighters, and so little time to play them, it's sad. I have some of the later Naomi ports (Guilty Gear XX #Reload, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Virtua Fighter 4 Evoluton) on my Xbox. |

HaloGX, sorry to disagree with you man, but Last Blade 2 is not a Dreamcast exclusive. It was originally released on Neo Geo, and then Later for Playstation 2.
Yes, I would have to agree though, the Dreamcast is one of the greatest systems for fighting games. When Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 came out, it was reason alone enough to buy the system. I played that game like a madman for about 5 years straight. CVS2, MVC1 and 2, Powerstone 1 and 2, and Dead or Alive 2 were my favorites. The nice icing on the cake was SFA3, SFIII:3s, VF3, MOTW, and Last Blade 2. Excluding Neo Geo, only Sega Saturn has such a great line-up of fighting games. |

We're talking domestic console releasing so its still Dreamcast exclusive. The Neo Geo release was technically the arcade board and the PS2 release was Japan only.

There was a US release of Last Blade 2 for the Neo Geo AES home console system, but that system is so niche, and the US LB2 is so expensive (goes for over $300 for the US version), it's really not a mainstream release. |

Yeah. With a price like that, that's why I consider it an arcade board not so much a console. Which really sucks because I'd love to have one.

I imported a japanese DC back when they first came out after discovering that Street Fighter III W: Impact was one of the first titles.
My dreamcast collection really only consists of all imported Capcom titles. I don't think I have any US games anymore. Same with my Saturn - I have a white import for my capcom fighters.
Plus, Capcom artwork is so much better on the imports.

I originally imported Rival Schools 2 when it was released. The second disc, if I remember correctly, had some kind of board game thing on it.
It was heavy in japanese, and I didn't understand anything at all, so I ended up selling it and picking up the US version.

KOF 2001 (which is pretty good by the way) has a puzzle game in it. I really wish Playmore could have released KOF 2003 on the Dreamcast just so the Sega systems would have an unbroken run from '95.
Let's see...
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! That came out on Playstation 1 but that shouldn't really count...
Virtua Fighter 3tb is underrated, and to me, has more of that "Sega feel" than 4 or 5 do. Interestingly enough, Sega put out a DC promo disc bundled with the Japanese Shenmue II about Virtua Fighter 4, even though it was coming out on PS2!
Do Shenmue's battles count as fighting games? heh.

Totally forgot about the puzzle game and had to play some tonight. Addictive little thing. It would be perfect for a PSN or Xbox Live download (preferably PSN so I can play it on my PSP).
