Sega has said that they will have no official celebration for the Dreamcast but said private celebrations will take place. Via Kotaku:
"Generally we won't be doing anything that's official," he said. The main reason is that Sega has reinvented itself as a software company. And it's important for us to focus on the other platforms that are alive and current."
"Informally, because there are people in the company who were involved in the Dreamcast launch, there will be celebrations," he said, "But as a company, publicly, that's going to be something we're going to be pretty low key about for obvious reasons. We're effectively a different company."
Hayes said that Sega has reinvented itself as a software company, which makes it more fitting to focus on other company's hardware. "It's not to disrespect the excellent system the Dreamcast was," he said, "Or the innovations that were done on it, which I think were probably a few years ahead of time in terms of the online application. I just think we as a company are multi-format and we want to talk about our first-party platform partners rather than when we were a first-party."
Dreamcast hardware may not the focus of any official Sega efforts, but Dreamcast software still has a future. Sega has aggressively distributed much of its older back catalog of games as digital downloads on home consoles, PC and portable machines. The Dreamcast line-up, comprised of bigger games, less easily brought to current platforms, is not going to be neglected, Hayes said. "I can't give you any details. Suffice to say, there's a lot of technical issues, a lot of licensing issues. But we are very keen to bring [them] to players in the way we've done with Genesis games. We want to do it, but it's hard work to get there. Hopefully we can build on that quite soon."

So....what games should I have on my anniversary playlist? Here are some of the first I could think of:
Soul Calibur
Street Fighter 3: DI
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Powerstone 2
Crazy Taxi 2
Ooga Booga
Jet Grind Radio
I might also get some people together for some drunken tournaments that night. Maybe some kind of sports tourney going on 2 TVs with my 2 Sega Sports Dreamcasts....hopefully I can find one more controller by then and have a full set of 8. Then have a white DC going, for a fighter tourney or something.

I'm going to have a 10th anniversary thing at my store I think. Mostly for myself, but you what the hell. Only system on all day will be dreamcast. Will have dreamcast cupcakes. Will give trade-in specials on dreamcast games (because I have almost none).

Oh Dreamcast, I think I'll be raiding the Diamond Avenue Book & Music Exchange in your honour.
I actually found one at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago, no cords, sadly, but the controller had a VMU in it.
Works great, just need to get an AV cable and AC adapter for it and another one of my friends gets a Sega Buddy.
Pulseman is available on the Virtual Console. Spend your 9 bucks there for great justice. |

I just happened to have today and tomorrow off of work, so I get to celebrate the DC's day the most hardcore way I can think of.
I will be around all day...trying to get more people gaming on the DC today. Hopefully I can talk my room mate(s) into some DC gaming action later on today.

I've updated the first post with Dreamcast Junkyard's fan voted Top 100. Some are very questionable, but its an interesting list considering it was solely fan voted for.
Maybe after dinner I'll throw in some games I haven't played in a long time. Maybe Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 2, JoJo's, Soul Calibur, and I haven't played any of
Sakura Wars: Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2 since I've gotten it. So those are on my very short docket.

When I get home tonight, mad DC gaming for the first time in... a year. My Dreamcast hasn't even been turned on in a year. Being busy is the biggest plague on my gaming ever. (Though I've played the DC at work, lots of Soul Calibur and Capcom VS SNK )

Updated the first post yet again with what Joystiq's staff had to say about the Dreamcast, as well as the blip from Kotaku.
As far as what games I managed to play today:
Crazy Taxi
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (I almost have all the emblems in 2, I forgot!)
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2
Capcom vs. SNK
Unreal Tournament
I tried to play REZ but my Dreamcast was having none of it sadly.
