Well the inevitable happened; my drum pedal broke today. I'm looking to know what I am supposed to do in this situation. Can I send it in and get a free one or will I end up paying for a new one? Also, is there anyway I can redneck it up with some duck tape or something that would enable me to still play while I wait for a new one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Edit- Also, it broke from the very bottem instead of in the middle. It seems like it would be easier to fix this way.

I got mine free. Go to the warranty page, do the normal method of replacement (not express) and go through everything. No CC info needed and I don't have to send my old one back. |

I thought you had to send the old one back before you could get the new one?

That's how it was, but I guess they've been replacing pedals for free. People were talking about it on Scorehero. My pedal wasn't broken but I gave it a try, and sure enough, like 5 days later, there was a new pedal at my doorstep Now I have a back-up. |

You don't have to send your pedal in first actually. If you give them your credit card info, they put a precautionary fee on your card (but they don't actually charge you). The fee stays there for 30 days. They send you a pedal with a return shipping paid for, you send back the broken pedal, they take the charge off your card. If you don't send the pedal back, they bill you for it.

That's with express replacement, and I've got no idea how they're doing that for pedals at the moment. But with normal (No CC info needed) they're supposed to send you a box to send your broken equipment in, and then they send you back new stuff. But with the pedals they've been skipping that, and just sending new stuff, without any postage back to the factory or whatever. |

Oh, and the new pedals seem a lot more durable than the old ones. Mine hasn't cracked at all or anything, and I've had it a while. |

I just told you how theyre doing it for pedals at the moment. I just got through doing it.
I refused to believe that Jimmy got a free brand new pedal without ever being required to send one in. I dealt with the Rock Band people fior over a week. I'm pretty confident I know how the whole support thing works.

I did get a free, brand new pedal without ever being required to send one in I don't think it was an accident either, because it's been happening to a lot of people. I didn't put in any credit card info, send anything in, nothing. Just put in my address and it came. |

Well, it would be fantastic if I got a free one like SJ said but if not, I'm guessing I will have to wait 2-4 weeks for a new one? I really don't have enough for them to place a large fee on the CC. I will miss it for the time its gone

They don't actually bill your credit card at all. The charge put some fee for $125 that doesn't actually bill you for 30 days. They ship you a pedal in overnight mail (although it takes like a week for the order to be processed), then you ship it back in the box that is pre-paid for you.
When they received your pedal, the $125 is taken off. You were never charged anything. They don't charge you $125 and then pay you back later, they just put the fee on there so it will automatically bill you if you don't send the pedal back.
Considering this is how it's done, and they clearly want their broken equipment back, I still don't believe that you can just ask for a new pedal and they will just send you one...

Taken from the Rock Band support website:
We have two methods of replacement for you to choose from.
Express Replacement
With Express Replacement, we can send your replacement equipment immediately and free of charge. The box will include a prepaid shipping label so you can return the original equipment in the same box.
To guarantee that the original equipment is returned, we will need to take your credit card number. YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED provided you return the original equipment within 28 days. If we do not receive the original equipment back from you within 28 days, your card will be charged a replacement and handling fee of $125.00.
IMPORTANT! A pre-authorization of $125.00 will appear on your card from Electronic Arts, verifying that funds are available by placing a "hold" on those funds for up to 30 days. If you use a credit card, this hold will affect your available credit. However, a pre-authorization to a debit card will hold ACTUAL FUNDS. If sufficient funds are not available on your debit card, this hold may result in overdraft fees.
In the United States: Most of our requests are processed within 1-2 business days. All shipments are 2-day Air Delivery via UPS.
In Canada: Due to special processing requirements, Canadian RMAs may take up to two weeks. A tracking number will not be included with your RMA; this is normal. All shipments are sent via Purolator.
Normal Replacement
If you prefer not to provide a credit card, we will send you an empty box with a prepaid shipping label to return the original equipment. Once we receive the original equipment back from you, we will send your new equipment free of charge.
This method is available only to addresses within the United States.
Which replacement method would you like to use?
Express Replacement
Normal Replacement |
They mention MULTIPLE times on their support site that they must receive the old one. They will either send you a new one after they get your old one, or they will send you a new one with a $125 pre-authorization charge that will disappear when you send in the broken one.

SaintJimmy may have recieved his a long time ago. I think I read somewhere that they started to just give out new pedals to anyone that asked for one and then they realized that wasn't a really good idea. I think thats when they started using this idea.
Thanks for the help Lil rams

I got mine in the mail last week, the request was March 6th. And I know it says multiple times that you have to send your old one in, I'm just saying I (along with many other people) have gotten them for free. |

And I'm just saying that I just went through it, as well, talked to the Rock Band people on the phone multiple times, and they all told me that they have to receive my broken one.

People said "You lucked out big time." That doesn't really help prove your point. Only 1 other person said he got his, too. Besides, that's all speculation.
