I'm on the last song (Foreplay / Long Time) and I can't beat the very ending. Where he changes his pitch constantly, doing the ooh's and ah's and woah's. It's pissing me off, because I fail at 89% everytime, and right where I fail, it looks like it's going back to the easier stuff.

Does anyone have any tips for the part, or even know what I'm talking about?

Also, is there a way to choose which part of the song you want to practice on vocals?

Ace is the guy for this. He rapes vocals.

Not to sound stupid...but have you tried just doing that section in the practice mode? That is a freaking long song to fail that far into it. It's also very high pitched...maybe try going down an octave?

I know Ace said all the Boston songs were by far the hardest in the game.

Well I ended up beating it.

And Rayzor, that's what I'm asking - Whenever I go into practice mode I never get to select the part of the song I want for vocals. It always just starts me at the beginning and there's no option to select my part.

There should be, although I've never practice vocals. Seems weird they'd let you do it for the instruments but not vocals.

Yeah...I never practiced either...but just assumed that the vocals would be no different than the instruments.

Good job on beating it!

EDIT: Sorry...I didn't read that last sentence as I assumed it was a sig

Yeah, you can't select which song you want to practice, which sucks, but I guess that's just the way it is.

As far as advice on the oohs and aaahs and such, it's really just about getting used to it. If you haven't found out yet, expert vocals is all about consistency. You can't get fancy and start improvising. You have to sing it EXACTLY as the singer sings it. That being said, keep the same pitch and plan ahead when possible. You don't get punished for singing in sections where there aren't any lyrics, so you can start singing a note before it comes to see if you're on the right pitch or not.

Some good examples if you want to practice:

- Any Boston songs, notably Foreplay/Long Time and Something About You.
- Can't Let Go - there is a part near the end where he does this improvised ahhhhhhhhhhhh with varying notes that's hard to hit. Really the entire song is pretty tough to sing (mainly because the vocalist is a pretty bad singer) If you can master that, everything else should be easy.
- Gimme Shelter - the part where the lady is singing. Really tough. She does the same kind of crazy crap that Brad does from Boston. Again, get this down and you can do most other stuff.

The hardest part about singing expert vocals is matching up with exactly how the singer sings it, including the tough "talky" parts. Other advice I can give:

1) check out the forums at rockband.scorehero.com. They have some great tips there.
2) Listen to the songs you're having trouble with. Get used to singing them.
3) Don't get frustrated. Master the songs you know first, then move on to the ones that you don't.

The one thing I liked about Guitar Hero that I don't in Rock Band is that you have to pass every song. In GH, I think it was 4/5 or 3/4. I like that much better.

Only for the lower levels in GH. Once you go to Hard, you have to beat everything.
