Yeah, its very hard.
Really, the only thing that ever keeps me away is having to pay monthly, but in the end, its sooooo worth it. |

Yeah, $15 a month (or less) saves a ton of money, if you're not buying a bunch of newer games that you rarely finish anyway. And if you play a lot, the ratio of hours of enjoyment to bling per hour is pretty damned good too .

Didn't want to start a new topic so I'll post here.
My guild is 6th in progression on my server and 4th on the Alliance side. Hoping to move up more this week. |

I've been WoW free for going on 8 months, I just dont have the time anymore and there are so many factors in the game now that have made the whole experience un-fun for me. I may comeback someday to raid with my bro but who knows |

What factors changed to make it un-fun for you?

The fact that I have to grind or pvp for an ungodly amount of time in order to get anywhere in the game... I was actually enjoying the game a lot until the expansion came out. I got my pally to 70 and then realized how far away I was from everyone else. Hell it takes a whole day of Pvping to get one epic in game anymore. It just wasnt fun anymore, I have a lot of good friends that still play but it seems as if they have all been absorbed into the game and that is their life anymore. There is no room for the casual player anymore... |

Hmm, I've never really felt that way about WoW--there's plenty of room for a casual player, IMO. I'm extremely casual, and I have a great time in my brief periods of play. I largely do PvP with my 70, and I level a toon now and again, and I'm content. I don't give a crap how far I am from the other guy in terms of gear, I'm just happy to get a new piece every week or two. I typically hop into Ventrilo with a few people from the guild and just hang out in the BGs, chatting and having a good time. I'll help with a quest from time to time, or even hit up a 5-man when I know I'll have enough time (usually Saturday nights), and it's still fun for me. So, although I can sympathize with being burnt out, I've never felt that WoW is unfriendly to casual players--just the opposite, actually, and even more so since the expansion, which not only makes it easier for smaller groups and guilds to get into "raiding" with smaller raid groups, etc., but also leveled the playing ground by totally wiping out the old 60s hierarchy. Being casual friendly has always been a strength of WoW, IMO, and one of the main reasons it's so popular.

I will have been WoW free for 18 months on Dec 11. I loved it when I played, and when I didn't. I sometimes considering playing for another month or two, but decide not to. I don't have the time, and my computer can't realistically handle it. It used to take me half an hour to do anything in Ironforge. I think I had my warlock up to level 54 the last time I played.

I havent play much at all, until I found out that some of my friends play on Hyjal so I started my Shaman toon there. It's fun, I just put in another 6 months, but I dont play all the time. Just once in a while to catch up for me. I like doing other things than grinding endlessly, lol. |

The only thing I dislike about WoW is that my computer is not perfect for it. Ironforge and Stormwind bog down sooooo badly, its no fun. I wish I could play it with all of the graphical stuff on full power and stuff, even though its not the most graphically impressive game.
I'm worried too, because I think this will probably have a big effect in the future if my computer causes lots of lag if I ever decide to raid or anything, or if I just want to do some PvP and the spell effects and stuff cause it to slow down. |

Yea, I found raiding was a little tough with my crappy computer. It would lag when I first entered the BG. I also couldn't go to the heart of the enemy's base because it would lag horribly; and by horribly, I mean my character would move approximately every 30 seconds so I couldn't do anything.
I did like the rested experience the game offers. It made grinding more managable when I was playing casually.

Rested experience was a great idea, it's nice that other MMO's have picked up the idea as well .
What kinda computer are you fellas running WoW on? I've had it on three different computers, over the years, and have seen a substantial increase with RAM alone.

I'm using my laptop. It's a bottom of the line IBM Thinkpad R51. It has a whopping 30GB harddrive, 512 MB of RAM, 1.5GHz.
The first year or so I played was on my sister's iBook. I have no idea what her specs are, but it ran considerably better on hers. It still wasn't great since her computer was a year or two old and wasn't made for gaming, but it worked well enough for me.

Yeah, the RAM is likely killing the laptop (and the speed, lol). The wife ran it for years on a 2Ghz with 512mb o' RAM, and I eventually upgraded her video card and RAM both, and she saw a substantial improvement (although AV was still hell on wheels).

Well for my mage, I killed those turtles along the coast by Theremore Isle. One of the vendor item they drop, sell for about 45 silver per 5. It has a 1 in 3 or so drop rate. There is at least 20 turtles along the coast there.
Easy gold tbh. Just be careful if you're on a PvP server, and horde.

Are you on your hunter? Just use aspect of the Cheetah/Pack while you level and AH, you'll have it no time, and the hunter isn't hurting for speed like a warrior .
Or, roll a real toon, come to Zul'jin Horde side, and I'll buy your 40 mount when you ding 40 . Orcs make badass hunters...

Seriously, though, if you're ever on Zul'jin, lemme know, be glad to help you out. Have toons of all levels, mainly playing my 70 huntress nowadays, still enjoying the game quite a bit with no burnout for months, although I play a lot more casually nowadays.
