So is anyone playing/going to play this? I played in the pvp beta briefly and it seemed interesting but am not interested in making a blind buy. Any thoughts/impressions on it?

I doubt I'll buy it. The game looks amazing graphically, but for whatever reason it just doesn't peak my interest enough to try it.

First impressions are favorable. I spent close to 3 hours with it last night (I stayed up way too late to get up at 5:40AM). Anyway, just a few thoughts:

- Looks great, even running on my slightly over-the-hill machine with lower texture settings, etc. This is a no-brainer, though, everyone's been talking about the graphics for years. (No DirectX 10 support out of the box, btw--they're supposed to patch it in around August, I believe.)

- Character creation is great, with lots of customization. Women are hawt...neked too.

- Lots of classes, divided into the typical archetypes, should keep it fun for those who like to alt (ahem...Ramsey...). There are three races as well (all human). Character cap is 80, I think, but the first 20 levels are spent in a mixed single player/multiplayer area in and around the city of Tortage.

- List of classes (those in bold are the ones I've tried):

Soldier: Guardian, Conqueror, Dark Templar
Mage: Demonologist, Necromancer, Herald of Xotli
Priest: Bear Shaman, Priest of Mitra, Tempest of Set
Rogue: Barbarian, Assassin, Ranger

- Combat is interesting, and a nice change from the current norm. So far I can attack forward, left and right, and the enemies block in different directions. There are also combos using the various attack directions. I think you can eventually learn two other attacks as well. It'll be interesting to see how the more active combat system works in PvP.

- Early quests are simple, and feel less like your handful of starter quests in WoW, EQ2, WAR, etc. Feels more like a singleplayer quest line, with obvious goals, very little farming, etc. Kinda neat.

- Music is awesome.

- Can't wait to do some quests with King Conan (sposed to start doing stuff for him in the higher levels, from what I've read).

Anyway, I dig it thus far, even though I've only barely scratched the surface of the game. It feels less "samey" than many MMO's, due maybe to the combat and the darker setting. Not sure. Can't wait to play more.

Aw boys....

So Shags, how stable is the game? I played in the pvp beta and thought it was in great shape then but the followup fileplanet beta really hit some snags which freaked people out on mmorpg.com. I haven't seen much grumbling since go-live though which makes me think that everyone is simply busy playing the game (except WAR fanbois hating on it, that is).

Are you playing on a PVE server or one of the PVP-FFAs?

I'm on a PvE server, and it's very stable thus far. They had the servers down for a spell to iron out something yesterday, but otherwise...smooth sailing. Kudos to Funcom for avoiding another AO launch

I gave in and picked this up. So far I have a level 10 Ranger and a level 5/6 Assassin. I'm really enjoying it so far, the combat is refreshing if you've been playing WoW/clones for the past few years and overall it's just a blast to play. The only problem I have is I'm not really sure what class I want to play as a main yet, heh.

Oh and I started out on a PVP server,Tyranny.

I got a Ranger to 13 before getting bored and trying out a Tempest of Set, which I just got to 19 and finally out of Tortage, but I haven't done much yet though I've been enjoying it. However I really want to try out a HoX because they look like a lot of fun. I also really want to try out one of the warrior-ish classes just to mix it up with a full-on melee class. That's the main problem I've had so far though, I just can't pick a main.

im very interested in this game but... i dont know if i would be able to run it very well im running on 2gb of ram, geforce 7600gs card and a pentium 4 2.4g processor

If the game is not running good on your PC try changing the Shader Model from 3.0 to 2.X to 2.0. It makes a very big difference in Fram Rate and the Graphic Quality still looks great.

the thing is .. i dont know if it will run on my pc. i havent nobhought it yet. and i dont really want to upgrade my system for a game right now

I'm not sure what the requirements are, but at a guess I'd say you can run it, with the setting wound down a bit.

We had alot of people in our guild that left to play AOC... About half of the people that left have returned. Hate to say it... but I called it

I may pick this game up as a side distraction later on... but WoW has me right now...

Age Of Conan wont do good. I have been reading alot of forums and it seems everybody is leaving and going back to what ever they were playing. Ok, whats next on the list? Warhammer?

I'm sure Conan will find its own niche with a healthy community, and lots of money for Funcom. It's still doing quite well, from what I've read.

WAR is my nextMMO purchase for sure, I like it more than Conan
