Can't believe I don't already have a thread for this one. I thought I'd made one...
...anyway, probably the release I'm looking forward to the most this fall. Dragon Age Official Site. PC Gamer UK called it the RPG of the Decade. I'll take of the year, either way...it looks amazing . I have a feeling many MMO populations will take a hit the week or two after the 3rd of November .

I have not really played a single player rpg in years. They just have not really been intresting. Dragon Age looks awesome though so I am really looking forward to it. I think it will probaly be one of the best RPGs ever made.

Looks cool, I'll likely pick this up. I've been wanting a new solid RPG, hope this does not dissapoint. I tried to get into 'The Witcher', but didn't really care much for it. |

Nobody on this site loves The Witcher but me, in my eyes it's as close as a western RPG has ever come to being a masterpiece.

The Witcher is outstanding. Not sure why it didn't get much love, especially after the enhanced edition came out. It was a fudging buggy mess early on .

That said, Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment still rock Teh Witcher.

Planescape is being re-released on DVD.....................in Europe, lol. That's something I may have to import, havnt played it in years.
Baldur's Gate was great, but newer gameplay has ruined it for me(much like Fallout 1/2). I can't even force myself to attempt to play something so frustratingly slow.

I've been looking at trailers and info for DA:O over the past day, and that's about all it took to convince me to get this game. Looks like it won't have any DRM, but disc-based versions are going to have a disc check, so Steam may be the way to go. What exactly is in the Limited Edition of it?

Here's the Collector's Edition for the PC:
Dragon Age: Origins CE
You can also download the character generator tool from the main site and check it out. If you upload one of your toons to your account, you get a free item. You can also get a free item for playing Dragon Age Journeys which is a decent lil Flash game.
Can't wait!

Daaaaaamn, that tin looks awesome. Looks like most of the bonus content, excluding physical items, will be available on Steam as well. Any idea on who the composer for the soundtrack is?
EDIT: Looks like it's Inon Zur, the guy who did Fallout 3, and the two Crysis, and a few of the Warhammer games (among other games).

There's a wee video about the music with interviews with Zur on the website, if you wanna check it out.

Hm, the main theme doesn't sound bad at all. It's extremely similar to the Crysis theme, though. I think I'll just end up getting the normal edition off of Steam. I admit, though, the system requirements are pretty big.

I'm really enjoying playing it as an MMO type game. I never like Baulder's Gate because I was too far from the action and it never really engaged me. However, since so much of the game is set up like an MMO (including skills, and combat if you chose), I'm really liking it!! |

Holy crap is this game fun! I was lackluster on it after everyone was splooging on about "omg spirtchual suckeszor of balders gaet". I know I just said that in my last post but damn, I'm having fun.
I just joined the Grey Wardens. Will be going back in an hour or two to take on more of the Blight!
EDIT: I can't help but wonder if the Star Wars MMO will be structured like this. |

Have to ask though...how do you play? Top down or MMO style? |
sgtshaggy

| | #27 posted November 5, 2009 at 7:55am (EST) |
I play MMO until I get to a battle, then I scroll out to top-down for the fights for better control over the tactics ala Baldur's Gate.

Does this game require online activation or anything? I'd like to be able to trade for it or get it used off of Ebay rather than buy it brand new |
bass_ec
| | #29 posted November 5, 2009 at 9:23am (EST) |
Nope. A product key is used and you can voluntarily connect to some kind of stat tracker, but other than that, there is no online components. |
sgtshaggy

| | #30 posted November 5, 2009 at 12:58pm (EST) |
Do play the entire game MMO-style? I can't imagine managing some of the tougher battles that way, it'd be rough.

There's no DRM, either. It's just a disc-check. HOWEVER... any codes you enter (like the ones you get when you buy the game new) are locked to the account you sign in on.
