I'll add more as they come in.
Official Nintendo Magazine UK {94}
| A fantastic racer and the best online Nintendo game ever. [Apr 2008, p.58] |
Games Master UK {91}
| It's the ultimate Mario Kart package rather than the best, but it's still a lot of fun. [Apr 2008, p.47] |
Nintendo Power {90}
| With more features, modes and multiplayer options than ever before, fans should be revved up to get behind the wheel. |
IGN UK {89}
| Despite initial fears, this is proper Mario Kart, and it's Mario Kart done right. It's fast, it's fun and still one of the best party games ever created. Thanks to some seriously well-implemented online options though, it brings so much more to the table than its forebears, most notably in terms of longevity. |
NGamer UK {88}
| A really solid Mario Kart with a terrific online setup. There's plenty here to make up for the disappointment of local multiplayer, but it does stop short of magnificence. |
EuroGamer{80}
| Ultimately, the sheer sensory pleasure of playing Mario Kart Wii - from the charming animations, to the bopping tunes, to the sugar-rush boosting, to the exquisite steering - far overcomes the few concerns we have about it. It still has to be docked a mark for the awkward structure and compromised multiplayer modes - but it's still unreservedly recommended to anyone for whom Mario Kart is a gaming cornerstone. |
VideoGamer {80}
| An excellent return to form for the series and tremendous fun when played with friends in split-screen or online. The often infuriating Grand Prix mode is likely to polarise gamers though, with some loving the unpredictability of it while others will simply give up after being taken down at the last minute by yet another Spiny Blue Shell. |
Edge Magazine {60}
| Having sacrificed racing integrity in "Double Dash" to side with social silliness, Nintendo has turned 180 degrees into an awkward halfway house. |

I probably won't mess with the online much on Mario Kart Wii... I like the fact that you can use the GCN controller and the Wii Remotes though. |

Why not? Supposedly the Snaking crap is all gone this time. As log as it doesn't lag like SSBB does, this could be my favorite Wii game of the year.

Online multiplayer is lame. Nothing will ever beat alcohol + 4 people + video games. |

Your friends aren't always gonna want to play every single time you're in the mood to play though, especially late at night. So while I do enjoy the 4 players in the same room multiplayer (even though having to split the screen 4 ways sucks) I definitely disagree about online multiplayer being lame.
Plus, if you get too drunk while playing split-screen and your friends all drive home afterwards they could all get in a car crash and die and you'd have to get replacement friends and they might not like videogames (or beer).

I don't get urges to play multiplayer at 2AM... Only when people are over....
...and I don't get too drunk anymore. |

Nintendo has released the official fact sheet for their upcoming title, Mario Kart Wii.
- The Wii Wheel transforms the Wii Remote™ controller into a steering wheel that feels natural in anyone’s hands, while the Wii Remote and Nunchuk™ controller offer a classic control style for the Mario Kart veteran. In either configuration, players can perform speed-boosting tricks with a shake of the Wii Remote.
- Players can race as their favorite Nintendo character, or even as themselves! Mario Kart Wii lets players race with their personalized Mii™ characters. And racers will see other Mii characters they have created cheering from the sidelines on some race courses.
- Players can compete with up to three friends in their living room. Or challenge up to 11 opponents via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in the biggest Mario Kart race yet. All tracks and modes of play are available via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and players can visit the Mario Kart Channel to compete in tournaments, check rankings, see when their friends are playing and download ghost data.
- Cruise new tracks and arenas or tour classic courses from Super Mario Kart™, Mario Kart® 64, Mario Kart®: Super Circuit™, Mario Kart®: Double Dash!!™ and Mario Kart® DS. Tired of riding on four wheels? Bust out one of the new motorbikes for special tricks and techniques. |

Mario Kart DS is the best Mario Kart game to this day... Double Dash was fun, but the double kart aspect is done.
EDIT - I was kinda hoping for like 50+ courses. :( |

Nah, that seems way to modern and high tech for Nintendo to do online.
I'm honestly surprised that they even went to extra lengths to have leaderboards. |

This doesn't sound like my cup of tea.
The entire point for me personally with the Mario Kart console series (Mario kart for handhelds is fine by itself) was for local multiplayer. If this has been nerfed further (Mario kart double dash I didn't find particularly great either) I am not really looking forward to this game.
Wii has a chronic lack of good local multiplayer titles that are engaging for more than 30 minutes.
