I've kept my Wii upright from the beginning, but now I'm wonder if I should lay it down. Is either way easier on the system? How is your Wii set up?

Horizontal for over a year. Vertical for 5 months before that. I can't fit it vertical in my stand anymore. It is too tall since I've had a wavebird controller hookup and GC memcard plugged into the side (was the top). |

It always bothered me that in the stand (vertical), the Wii is crooked. I've always kept mine horizontal and never had any issue. It looks lot better and when the blue light is on and I don't have time to check my messages, it is a lot less annoying.

I've had mine vertical for the most part. For the first couple of months that I had it, it was leaving these weird grease spots on the game discs, so I laid it down for a while, but it kept happening. I stood it back up and it stopped leaving the grease spots. I didn't like how it looked horizontal, so I'm going to leave it vertical. |

I turned off the blue light thing. It looked kind of cool, but it kind of bothered me because it made me wonder what it was doing. |

Usually Vertical, but I have to put it horizontal in my new place. No extra room. :( |

It looks cool horizontally, but I just can't stand to keep it like that for some reason...

Crooked or not, it saves space.
I have my PS2 horizontal, with my Wii and Xbox360 standing vertical on top of it because I have nowhere else to put them.

my TV is huge, so the stand is really wide, so I have tons of horizontal space under it... |

Mine's vertical. I was actually wondering if horizontal was better for the system and/or discs recently, too.

The only thing I've found is that some people are claiming that the vertical position makes the drive work harder, but I haven't found any proof of that.
I might Put my Wii horizontal and then stack my slim PS2 on top. That will save some space.

I have this shelf/drawer thing that is made for the original XBox. I took the drawer out and put the XBox where the drawer was. Then on the shelf above it, I have my GameCube and my Wii setup up vertical. It worked out pretty well and saves a lot of space. |

Stacking it, or really any component, may be a bad idea since it may cause it to not release its heat as well as if it were by itself. I assume vertical is often better for heat dissipation since it usually means it has more space around it. I'm just speculating, though. |

hmmm...you may have a point there. I'll have to take that into consideration.

Vertical. It looks like a DVD drive flat on it's side.

I've had mine vertial for the most part. When it's horizontal, the Wii stand it came with is going to waste! |
