Some douche fudge sent me a PSP in exchange for a gamecube and $90 paypal. Funny how he fails to mention the PSP is missing the analog stick, the screen is scratched to hell, and it doesn't read UMD's.

My dumbass didn't check the UMD drive until weeks after I sent the money *angry*

So now I have a PSP that doesn't read UMD's. Anyone ever fix one of these?

Maybe just buy a new drive? Ebay has tons of them.

I'm thinking that....I thought they were alot more expensive than they are. I can get an entire new back of the PSP for $25, or a new drive for $18 or so.

Come to think of it, it almost looks like you can buy all the parts for a PSP and make one for less than buying one *raspberry* lol

Hmm, it makes me wonder, i have a crack on the face of it that goes inside the screen as well, but my last one that had a LCD crack only is visible when it used to turn on, so i wonder if i can fix it be replacing a faceplate?

Does the PSP spin / try to read the UMD or does it just sit there and do absolutely nothing? Could be you just need a new laser. It's fairly common.

It spins, and I hear the laser moving...but it doesn't read. The screens sits with that little circle at the bottom right, and sometimes I get a DRE.

I'd say that sounds like the laser then.
