I have two PSP's one broke a while back (2 yrs ago) and one just has a tiny crack on the faceplate. I know all i have to do is get another faceplate for my 2nd one, but here's the story with the first one.

The LCD cracked from being under pressure/got hit while in my bookbag 2 years ago in high school. So it still powered on and you could still se 1/8 of the screen and everything worked, it's just you couldnt see anything, next day it couldnt power on anymore but charges. Not a flicker of green or anything, but if i charge it the amber light DOES come on. Im thinking the broken LCD must have done something to the circuits or something to that effect. Anyone have any ideas?

Makes sense to me...

what you COULD do, since you are going to be tearing apart that other PSP to replace the faceplate anyway, is borrow the good LCD from that one and try it in the one that isn't working at all. As long as it doesn't fry the good LCD (don't see why it would), you could check to see if the broken one would work w/ a new LCD - without buying a new LCD.

*wink*

Ha, well i saw a video tutorial on how to replace faceplates and you have to put all the buttons and crap back in the right order as well as the nub. Im thinking of taking my old one's face plate and putting it on my newer one. Plus i heard that i shouldnt get dust on the LCD. But if it is simple i could try it. That way all i have to do is buy another PSP LCD and bam, i got another PSP again. Alot of people seem to want to buy my broken psp thinking they can fix it.

I even tell them the LCD is broke.

I think they think it's just a simple bricking problem...heh, and they can fix it and sell it for $

well, LCD's and faceplates are VERY easy to replace. The only hard part is the dust on the LCD - it doesn't damage anything, it just looks messy when you put it back together. It's very simple to tear a PSP apart actually...

Yeah, well LCD's cost about twice as much as faceplates. That's not the problem though. I dont know why it wont power on, it charges fine, but it wont power on. That's why i think people just assume i got it bricked and it doesnt power on, which isnt the case

Done! Used my old PSP's faceplace, which has a very tiny dent, kind of like a baby fingernail, but's it's clear and it isnt cracked, im think of buying another kick ass looking silver faceplate anyway. I had to innovate to get those screws out with these cheap tools ive got, had to use a wrench and asked my dad to hold it down so i can have enough power to take them out.

Now im gonna sell this old psp with the cracked faceplate and cracked LCD that wont power on.

Btw, Admiral. Is replacing a LCD as easy? I tried looking at it when i had my old one opened.

never done it - but I'm about the change the laser drive in one of mine, which involves removing the LCD. If I get to it before you do, I'll let you know how it goes *raspberry*

You will, im just asking for reference. I decided not to replace the LCD since it wont power on anyway. Decided just to sell the piece of crap for $30-50 on ebay. But i would like to know, the PSP is easily the best system to mod and change!
