The few things I DO know is that the CFW is pretty much the same right now (3.90M33-3)...except the absence of a 1.50 Kernel.
What exactly would I be missing w/o the 1.50 Kernel? Some specific examples would be nice, since I do know I can't run some "homebrew". Like what for instance?
Also, I know about the hardware (more memory, AV to TV output, etc)...what else should I be aware of that you guys can tell me about?
Anything else I should do to the Slim PSP after I get 3.90M33-3 on here?
Finally, I got the silver colored PSP Slim variety, but can get a Piano Black slim for a nice price too. Should I bother? What color do you guys prefer? I kinda like the silver not having to clean smudges off every 2 seconds. | GoldenfrankO

Well if you can't run most Homebrew games, You can't use your psp as a remote. Most everything else you can do using eLoader. I use eLoader so I'm not missing much.
Also I prefer Ice Silver PSP slim. Thats what I have and it looks very nice. | luckyjoemm

WELL WITH THE SLIM, SONY ANNOUNCED THAT YOU CAN PLAY GAMES, MOVIES, MUSIC, AND PHOTO, ON A HDTV, WITH COMPONET CABLES,THE RED, BLUE GREEN AND MORE. BUY WITH THE RED WHITE YELLOW, YOU CAN DO THE SAME EXCEPT GAME, WELL THAT IS A LIE, WITH A NEW PROGRAM I HAVE YOU CAN USE YOU PSP SLIM TO PLAY GAMES ON A REGULAR ASS TV, NOW ISNT THAT THE CRAP, OH SORRY FOR THE CAPS, I FORGOT TO TURN THEM OFF.
BUT ANY WAYS THE SLIM HAS NO SHORTAGE IN RUNNING HOMEBREW, EVEN SOME HOMEBEW AT 1.50 THERE IS E LOADER 1000 TO RUN IS
AND MOST PEOPLE ARE MAKING UPDATE TO THERE 150 GAME TO MAKE THEM BETTER, FIRST AND THEN TO RUN ON ANY FIRMWARE.
THERE IS FASTER LOADING TIME WITH AN UMD OR THE ISO/CSO, ALSO FASTER READ FROM MEMORY, AD ME PERSONNALY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE IR PORT. ARE PSP IS SLIMMER, AND NOT IS DOSENT BREAK UNDER PRESSURE, IVE DROPPED MINE ABOUT 4 TIME, AND NOTHING WRONG, NOT EVEN SCRATCHES. AND THE SLIM IS ALL UP TO DATE ON PANDORA. I ALSO HAVE THE ICE SILVER, WHAT ABOUT YOU ADMIRAL. | GoldenfrankO

HAHAHA!!!! You type "sorry for the caps", and STILL don't turn them off!!!
Anyhow Joe, I know you have a silver slim - I put the CFW on it for you! And yes, mine is silver also (as I mentioned above).
I would like to know more about the program to play games on a "REGULAR ASS TV" though. Got a link?
Finally, the Slim PSP can't be used as a remote even WITH a program - there is no IR sensor... | Admiral

goldenfrank - what does eloader do? | GoldenfrankO
| | #7 posted June 10, 2008 at 4:39pm (EDT) |
eLoader is pretty much just a program that opens up most 1.5 homebrew files. Example: You want to download a Homebrew racing game, but it's only compatible with 1.5 FW. You'd download the file and stick it in the GAME folder like normal. also Download eLoader and put it in the GAME folder. The game will be curropted (Just ignore it) Open up eLoader. A list of all the files you have in GAME folder will appear. Scroll down to the game and press X. It will say "we are all noobs" then in a few seconds it will load. | Admiral

Ah, sounds pretty cool I'll look into that.
What is some of the better 1.50 homebrew you have used? Are any of them worthwhile? Any good games (like Doom, Quake, other games)? | luckyjoemm

ya my keyboard, turned them bak on, its weird, well there is the plugin called fusa,
http://dl.qj.net/FuSa-v1.0-build-45-PSP-Homebrew-A...
http://dl.qj.net/eLoader-v1.000-PSP-Homebrew-Appli...
the fusa is a plugin, do you know how to use them.
the other is the new eloader for us slimers, yous i made that word up, i have a doom game but it runs on the new cfw by its self, lke how kia does, a nother good one is jazz the jack rabbit, i think thats, for my, but you really dont need any eloader, anymore, most people who make there, 150 games have update them for the slim. here is a link for doom and jazz

http://dl.qj.net/Jazz-JackRabbit-v0.02-(alpha)-for-Slims-PSP-Homebrew-Games/pg/12/fid/16639/catid/195
well i think thats it, also there are not good homebrew programs for the psp right now, they all suck, you can use vista its ok, not my thing thuo. | PS3sixty

Nearly all homebrew were already ported to the Slim and you can use eLoader to run 1.50 programs, so there's no much to worry about unless you want to use your PSP as a remote control. Some of the 3.XX emulators are better than the 1.50 ones, like CPS2PSP which you don't have to create cache files for the roms and saves you memory stick space.
With the Slim you can charge the battery through a USB cable, although it takes longer than charging through the power cable. With CFW you don't even need to be in USB connection mode for it to work. I forgot if the Fat had this or not. The thing that sucks about this is that the PSP must be left on.
For playing PSP games/roms/homebrew on TV, you need the component cable and a progressive scan-supported TV that has component inputs. You can't play games on regular SD TV's, although you can do everything else like videos or music. I don't really play my PSP on TV much seeing as it's a portable system, plus the games aren't displayed on the entire screen. On the plus side you don't see any ghosting as opposed to using the PSP's screen.
On of the biggest reasons I got the Slim was the improved dpad and it makes fighting games finally playable.
The system isn't 100% compatible with Fat-style accessories. I think you can use the cases but some of the ports will be blocked. I'm getting this official Traveler Case since it's designed for the Slim even with the extended battery cover on: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Computer-Entertainment-...
I have the Piano black Slim and I prefer it since it's the same color as my PS3 60GB.

you can too play you cans on a regular tv, in full screen, no need for component cables, or progressive scan. | GoldenfrankO

@Joeseph: I could help you getting Daedalus R13 working with SM64 at almost full speed with sound. Here is a video of my results using R13 Super Mario 64 with sound. http://youtube.com/watch?v=iusqsMe0UJg | Admiral

ah glad you liked my custom game boot. If you get MSN I could step you through it.
And The analog stick actually is very good with N64 games. At first it was hard to work with but then after playing a few levels of SM64, and a few matches of Smash bros I was comfortable. | Admiral

| | #26 posted June 12, 2008 at 6:04pm (EDT) |
Banjo Kazooie -playable but slow (Videos run fine)
Mario Kart - (Pretty close to full speed without sound)
I'll test others later. |
