Seems like this game is a must have so I was just curious on which version is best. I heard awhile back that the Xbox 360 Version would be getting the exclusive content so it seems like the 360 version will probaly be the one to go for.

just keep in mind that the content won't be out until Fall, so if you get sick of games quickly, it may be worth it to simply pick up the version for the system you use the most

Neither, both versions are essentially identical. PS3 has a little less pop-in while the 360's frame-rate is slightly better in some situations. The first batch of extra content comes out in August. It all comes down to which controller you prefer and what system most of your friends are playing on.

Why buy the PS3 Version if the content is comming to the Xbox 360?

*shrug* because some people prefer the PS3? Or if your friends have PS3s? Or if you're worried about RRoD hindering your ability to play? You're the one that asked initially so you tell us why you were even considering it

im starting to lean towards the ps3 version, only because i dont know that i will still be playing the game by the time the DLC is available by end of august. and i dont really know how many of my friends are planning on picking it up for 360.
also easier for me to hook up my ps3 to my monitor so i can play in my room all night long without hogging the TV. |

Getting it for 360, because all my friends have 360s. Plus for Xbox Live. |

I just wanted to hear what other people thought. I dont have an Xbox 360 or PS3 but I should be getting both soon.

I would think that that "exclusive content" will eventually make its way onto the PS3 either by download or by another disk, perhaps another release.

Theres no way, at least the the content Microsoft paid to be made. It didn't exist without Microsoft's money. I'm not saying PS3 won't get downloaded content in say, the form of new cars and what not but the 2 episodic episodes are exclusively being made for the 360.
They paid millions for the content by the way. Apparently 50 million.

Never say never
I'm going with the PS3 version simply because I hate the xbox controls and fear the RROD

I'd say if you have both consoles go with the PS3 version. According to the reviews it runs a little better on PS3, but then again the reviews say a lot about this game.

If I had both systems and had to pick one I would probably go with the 360 version. Achievements are great and the exclusive content whether you buy it or not should be interesting.
But I agree with Sinnie that once the exclusivity expires...I'm almost certain the extra stuff will make it's way to the PS3. It might be a year or two out but it'll happen. If they're expecting GTA4 to make $900+M or something crazy then $50M really isn't all that much money. I'm sure Rockstar had plans for expansion packs or whatever from the get-go and MS probably just got them to agree to only release on 360 at first.
$50M is a lot of money to us but to these companies it's hardly anything. |
sinnie

| | #18 posted April 29, 2008 at 11:24am (EDT) |
Exactly, and Rockstar would end up just making more money from having another PS3 release a year or two down the road with it.
It could be that this exclusive content is simply so Microsoft has it first. We don't know the specifics of it, but I'd find it really hard to believe otherwise.
Now, to finish beating my other games so I can buy this. I am so tempted to order it, but I told myself, beat what I have first. I just keep acquiring games and not finishing them.

I've been quite curious as of late. What exactly will the "exclusive content" that Microsoft payed Rockstar $50 Million be?
Oh, and Anxious, that's about the smartest thing I've ever heard anybody say on this site. If I had a PS3/360, I'd do the same |

You're actually quite right, because games comprised solely of mini-games are a lot easier to test for bugs than something like a GTA game.

I played a bit online last night (360) and its not completely smooth, a bit laggy, but not too bad. Single player has been pretty flawless. |

You know what I have a problem with?! Why in the HELL do I have to watch the mini intro every damn time?? That's retarded. I'd rather deal with 14000 load screens than knowing I have to have patience and stare at the screen. The music is good at least to keep me from breaking something.

Because it's loading. And I think it's pretty stylish, compared to a black screen saying "loading". |

Stylishly annoying. Especially when it's followed up with a black screen that says 'loading' for a minute anyway

Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda TP are not games comprised solely of mini games, and I never heard of them having any problems.

If you don't count the 4 years TP was delayed
With a delay that long it better be bug free |
