Except for the lovely artwork, shining tears was awful. i'd imagine either of the other two have to be better, because it would be difficult for them to be worse.

From what I saw/barely played of Abyss, I thought it was alot better than Legendia. But I didnt play much of either.

Not sure about the others, but one of my friends really liked Suikoden III for the three main characters having their own quests - she thought it added a lot of replay value to it.
This is coming from someone who enjoys level grinding more than most do or probably should, though, so YMMV.

How hard would it be to make a totally kick ass Shining Force based on the formula that made it so well loved even today!?!?!

I KNOW!
I don't get why they keep making all those other faggy Shining games. |

i think sega pissed off camelot, which means making a decent shining force is pretty much out of the questions, since camelot were the folks that did the actual making of those games.
In my personal dealings with camelot, they were some of the nicest and most pleasant people I have ever talked to - even for the japanese.

Being a Suikoden fan, I'm going with Suik series

it's not that...IV was bad...just sailing is the worst thing about the game...literally every 2 seconds a random battle; and you need to travel a bit....
there's also Suikoden Tactics which is OK that you missed |

Thanks all.
I didn't forget Suikoden Tactics as i have owned it before and hated it. I haven't played III in a long time, got stuck in a cave somewhere. I plan on getting another copy to finish. I am now playing V and it does start off better than IV did. As for the Shining Tears games, i owned all of them except for EX but never played them as they where all new copies + no time. I never started Tales of Legendia either, although it looked really good. As for Abyss, does the story from Legendia tie into it? |

Play Wild arms 1 and 2 those have to be in the top best rpg's ever made in my opinion. Excellent puzzles and turn based fights, as well as a "hidden bonus boss" in WA1 that will kill all characters in 1 blow even if they are level 99 (highest) well worth beating him for what he gives. Also Lufia 2 (snes) is awesome. |

WA 2 = fail
WA 1 = awesome |

No. As with most Tales games, they are completely isolated from one another. I honestly didn't really enjoy either of them, and despite Legendia being the only one I actually finished, I'd give Abyss a slight win. They're both terribly generic and drag on for ever. Again, like most Tales games .

Doesn't Nintendo own Camelot now anyways? Would that hamper their ability to work with Sega, despite Sega being a 3rd party developer now?

I disagree I thought both 1 and 2 were awesome and they killed 3 w/cell shading, just my opinion. |

Suikoden V is the only good game listed in the OP. I heard Suikoden III gets good down the line, but it sure as fudge isn't in the first 5-10 hours
