LocoRoco was awesome but the more I played it the less I wanted to keep on playing. I eventually forced myself to beat it.

Patapon, however. Now there's a game that's frustrating.

That's exactly how I feel about Loco Roco.

Patapon I haven't played yet though. Something tells me I just should do it and get it out of the way.

just beat cod2. Had some great parts but overall didn't feel as epic as 1 or 4. Had some great moments though - Hill 400 and also the part where you land on the beach then climb the cliffs. I have a better comp since back when I played the demo, back then my gpu didn't support dx9. So the visuals were much better of course.

It's an excellent game with so much style and quirkiness for 20 dollars your head will explode. Fantastic game. It gets ridiculously hard though.

But you like the game otherwise?

for the most part.

Things I liked:

The core game mechanics remain almost completely intact.
The stage designs - for the most part, really great stuff that draws from the best concepts of the Saturn game's level design and manages to improve them and add additional interesting concepts. The annoying 'top down' segments from the original are almost non-existent (only exist really in one or two stages), and much better designed.
The music - They didn't top the saturn game, but they did a pretty good job.
The graphics - the game is absolutely gorgeous in motion - particularly the Bellbridge stage. Screenshots just don't do it justice.
Boss battles - overall, I think the boss characters exceeded the quality of those in the original NiGHTS, and the fact that each had two distinct levels of difficulty was pretty neat.
Wizeman battle is practically identical to in the Saturn game (although this time around, you're supposed to use each transformation to respond to each of his attacks).
Link missions where you're tasked with racking up huge combos - something that existed in Christmas NiGHTS but not in the full Saturn game, have made their way into the game.
Claris is sort of unlockable (she's secretly still Helen, but at least she looks like Claris).
The soundtrack from the original game is unlockable.
'Stylish Flying' using the L or R buttons to perform tricks as you fly, which was really underused in the original game save for a few seconds after entering ribbon loops, gives you additional points if you're doing it while you go through a loop or collect a chip. So you're encouraged to do it practically all the time for the best score.

Things I didn't like:

NiGHTS voice. NiGHTS is a guy, and though he can fly, he isn't peter pan. He doesn't need to be played by a female.
Will's lack of fashion sense, and how he kind of creepily looks a whole lot like my nephew Nathaniel.
The transformations, and how they were 100% contrived and 90% worthless - the only time you ever really used them (apart from dolphin nights which activated automatically any time you went in the water).
The collectathon aspect of the game, as mentioned above.
Being forced to complete all 5 missions in each area to progress to the next area, but being kicked back to the dream gate each time. Why not just pop a message asking if I would like to do the next mission or go back to the gate so I don't have to go through the load screens again?
No more dynamic music. * frown *
Absolutely terrible camera angle during the Reala fights. Camera always stays focused on Reala, so often you can't see where you're going (which is important). If the battle had stayed in the same style as the original game (where you have to loop Reala to damage him) it would have worked, but you have to go find little spheres and throw them at him, which is quite difficult when you can't see where you're going.
The fact that I've gotten A rankings on every single mission, collected all the retard drops, and I am still missing 3 items from the music test.
The original game not included as a bonus.
Minor control change - in the original game, L and R together would bring NiGHTS to a quick stop. It doesn't in this one, and there doesn't appear to be a way to do it.

As you can see, the things I like are the big things, and my gripes are relatively minor, and they come from the point of view of someone who has played the original for well over a thousand hours, and that believes replay value is when a game is so good you want to keep playing it no matter how short it is, not one that forces you to do boring crap to get to the good stuff. It's definitely one of the top games to come out in 2007, and it's probably my second favorite Wii game overall.

Thanks for that breakdown. * yes * I bought JoD quite some time ago, but still haven't played it much. Does it have any time/date related changes like Christmas NiGHTS, or has that been completely replaced by the weather system?

Well apparently (after checking gamefaqs for how to get those last 3 songs), it has Halloween and Christmas related music that you get by setting the date appropriately.

The third song is for playing a 2 player race.

I was kind of hoping for them to have the stuff that Christmas NiGHTS had, and maybe expand on it. Like, it would be cool if they had different holiday themes throughout the year.

The last single-player game I beat was Final Fantasy XII. Weirdly one FF game which it took me a while to play through to completion - it didn't appeal to me as much as FF games usually do (hence my user name).

Can't argue what? Puh-lease, you can't possibly foist that on anyone and expect them to believe that "not enjoying any of it" is a reason. It's not. Be logical, fool.

Let me help you: a "reason" would be why you didn't enjoy playing it. Either that or you have an aberrant hate for RE4 that's not based in any realistic domain.

I still love you, but you get a -1 on that one! * wink *

Fire Emblem (Game Boy Advance)

I loved the crap out of this game until I got to chapter 27, and was ill-prepared for it weapon/supply wise. Took me like 15 tries and countless hours before I finally beat that one stage.

In the end, it was worth it as that game was awesome, though I think it'll be a little while before I dive in to another Fire Emblem game.

It's not really that bad. It took me a while to finally get into it, but I did it and I loved the game. I'm thankful that I didn't have to worry about constantly rotating out squad members just to level them up. The only time you'll ever have to do that is for their abilities.

Just beat Sonic Spinball. The whole game took under an hour and half of it was the last level. This game was a rush job and it shows. Still, I kind of like it... there aren't enough pinball games of this style (ie completely unrealistic; big levels rather than tables; goal-oriented progression).
