I'm not really a racing game fan, but it was ok - too many damn races in championship mode though.

I haven't beaten a game since Resident Evil 5, and that's because I just keep replaying Resident Evil 5 over and over and over and over and over again, every day.

Just beat RE5 for the 2nd time. Beat it on split screen the first time and this time I went solo. The AI for Sheva is really good except for a few parts. RE has some great replay value in it and I'm sure I'll end up finishing it several more times.
Edit- Also, how do you unlock infinate rocket launcher and gatling gun? |

Easy. I got them all today. That's half the reason I rented it (on a trial) but the last few races are ridiculous and there's only about 8 songs, which obviously gets repetitive. One thing to remember with it is that its a realistic snowmobile game and not and "extreme" game.

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (360) - 7.5/10
This game is great!! For some reason I thought this game was received terribly, but I really liked it. There was a horribly broken cover system and the game punished you for it's AI going gung-ho sometimes, but other than that the core mechanics were really solid and there were some really good set pieces. The environments were always varied and filled with "good" cover (As opposed to Gears of War's random chest-high walls). The story/characters were actually good. I liked both Kane and Lynch by the end of the game.
Some parts seemed like they would be murderous (larger battles) or less fun (splitting up to cover two different parts of a bank) without co-op, but if you have a friend to run through the game with I'd totally recommend it.

Phantasy Star II. Took me a while because it's kind of discouraging. This is one RPG that really doesn't hold back on having strong enemies. It's kind of annoying though, to have to carry a crapload of potions at all times, spend time healing, etc. It doesn't help that some of the dungeons are too long and tedious. But overall it's a great game. I really dug the universe, the cast, and the plot.

I'd check, but I don't want to. Any any of the Phantasy Stars available on the Wii Virtual Console? I need a reason to fire it up again. Hopefully it starts with the Master System one, because starting with the 2nd on any RPG seems like I'm cheating myself. |

Shining Force (Genesis) - 7.5/10 (I played with sound by the way, due to popular request)
Despite the story being pretty generic and having played newer entries in the genre, I liked this game a lot. It was fairly simple, which made it accessible to an RPG idiot like me. The lack of significant death penalty and minimal grinding meant I was actually able to enjoy myself all the way through. I never got stuck and felt like I didn't want to play the game. I'm no SRPG expert so I don't know the conventions, but I somewhat wish the whole party had to fall instead of just the hero for the battle to be lost. Most of the later battles I just tucked Max into a corner and let my badass Wolfbane do all the work, despite Max being a pretty decent Hero. I usually ignore the magic of most RPGs and grind up my fighters, but I had a good mix of offensive/defensive magic and various kinds of melee in this game.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed that this is one of the first SRPGs. Due to it's accessibility, I'd pretty much recommend it to anyone.
Why did they only use the best song in the game once! Blarghh, all the music should've been this good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6EUYyR82AE

II and IV are (as is III, but that's skippable), but the first isn't.

They released it for handheld as Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon.
Just a 100% original port I believe, didn't tweak the original goodness or anything. |

Holy fudge, huh? Crap was ridiculous and I was not prepared for it. I think I finished it @ 40-50+ hours or so.
Nick-Nah, I just need to hurry up and get a PS3. I've had There Will Be Blood on Blu-Ray since Christmas .

RotDD has a bunch of changes. It's harder, has some card crap in battles, more playable characters, and extended plot. I remember reading up on the different versions before setting out to play it and decided to go for the original.

I was just making a snarky general comment, not talking about Shining Force. But no, I don't think Shining Force is a perfect game.
